Indian Actresses 11 - Bollywood and More
Indian Film Actresses 11 - With Namitha, Nargis, Nagma, Nandana Sen and more
Here is my (believe it or not) my eleventh article about the women of Indian cinema.
This article has several Indian actresses from the past, that have made a big impact on Bollywood, and Indian cinema in general.
And the scope of these films are increasing, with not only Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali films, but Bhojpuri, Punjabi, and Marathi language movies as well.
The audience is growing as well, branching out more and more into the United States.
I'm waiting for Hollywood to start ripping off Bollywood ideas!
This time we have not only Indian actresses, but models, dancers, directors and one jewelry designer.
Legendary Bollywood actress Nadira was born Farhat Ezekiel on December 5th, 1932 in...well, some sources say Mumbai, others say Baghdad, Iraq and some say Israeli .
Her acting debut was in the 1952 technicolor Hindi musical Aan.
Aan was the highest grossing movie at that time, pulling in Rs. 1,50,00,000 (which is a little over $330,000 dollars US).
That record stood for three years, until it was broken by Shree 420 in 1955.
Nadira went on to appear in well over sixty films, her last one being in Josh in 2000.
She passed away on February 9, 2006 at the age of 73.

She is also a very spiritual lady, having been raised by a Muslim mother and Hindu father (and one of her Aunts is Christian).
Nagma has said in interviews that she has read the Qur'an, Bhagavad Gita, and Bible.
Namitha was born Namita Mukesh Vankawala on May 10th, 1980 (or 1981) in Surat, Gujarat, India.
Like Nagma, she has branched out in her acting and has appeared in close to forty Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and English films.
She made her acting debut in the 2002 Telugu film Sontham.
Indian actress Nandana Sen was born on August 19th, 1967 in Calcutta, India.
Her father is Nobel Prize winner Amartya Sen, (called the "the Mother Teresa of Economics") and her mother is Bengali writer, Nabaneeta Dev Sen.
Her sister Antara Dev Sen is an Indian journalist.
Wow...no pressure there for Nandana huh?
Her acting debut was in the 1997 film Gudia and since then she has gone on to appear in over twenty films.
