Indian Actresses 4 - Bollywood and More
With Freida Pinto, Genelia D'Souza, Esha Deol, Geeta Basra, Isha Koppikar and more
Now we have arrived at my fourth article about the women of Indian cinema.
Like the other three articles, this one has not only Bollywood actresses, but actresses from Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada films as well.
We have actresses, models, beauty queens, dancers, VJs and one actress with more screen names than you can shake a stick at.
(That means a lot)
Isha Koppikar (Eesha Narang)
Oh boy, here we go...
If you want to find out anything about Eesha Narang, you need to not only look for that name, but Ishaa Kopikar, Isha Kopikar, Eesha Koppikar, Eesha Koppikhar and Eesha Timmy Narang as well.
She was born Isha Koppikar in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India on September 19th, 1976.
Eesha got into modeling which led to her competing in the 1995 Femina Miss India pageant where she came in fourth.
This led to even more modeling work and to her acting debut in the 1998 Tamil film, Kaadhal Kavidai.
For her role as Jothi, she won the Filmfare Best Female Debut (Tamil).
Eesha went on to appear in over forty Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films.
In 2009, this five foot seven beauty hosted the Colors pro wrestling show, 100% De Dhana Dhan.
Elli Avram is not from India.
She is was born July 29th, 1990 in Stockholm, Sweden.
But I put Yana Gupta in one of these articles and she was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia, so....
Anyway, she may have been born in Sweden but her claim to fame is in Indian Cinema.
She appeared in Mickey Virus (2013), Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015) and Housefull 3 (2016).
Elli also appeared on Bigg Boss 7 (2013) as a contestant
Esha Deol was born on November 2nd 1981 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Her parents are Bollywood actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini.
She was a state level soccer player, trained in Odissi and Bharatanatyam dancing styles and attended college with plans to be become a fashion designer.
But somewhere along the way she got sidetracked and wound up making her acting debut in the 2002 romance/thriller, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe.
Esha has appeared in almost thirty films since her debut.

The stunning Freida Pinto was born on October 18th, 1984 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Before her acting debut, Freida was the host of the international travel show, Full Circle, on Zee International Asia Pacific from 2006 to 2008.
She then did some modeling...and then came her acting debut.
And what a debut it was.
She appeared in the 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire.
Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for ten Academy Awards (it won eight), seven BAFTA Awards, five Critics' Choice Awards, and four Golden Globes.
And For her role as Latika, Freida (and the cast in some instances) won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, the Palm Springs International Film Festival – Breakthrough Performance Award and she was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, the Black Reel Awards of 2008 - Best Ensemble, the MTV Movie Award for Best Female Breakthrough Performance and the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss.
Next up for Freida is Miral (directed by Julian Schnabel) and after that, she will appear in Woody Allen's You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger (with Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Anupam Kher and Naomi Watts).
After that is the very interesting sounding Dawn of War.
One of the hottest celebrity couples in India is Dev Patel and Freida Pinto.
Dev is her Slumdog Millionaire co-star.
Indian model, VJ and actress Gauhar Khan was born on August 23, 1984 in Pune, Maharashtra, India.
The sister of Nigaar Z Khan, she started out modeling, and went on to enter the Femina Miss India contest in 2002.
Gauhar came in fourth, but that lead to appearances in music videos, hosting a celebrity gossip show and appearing on the celebrity dance show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
She has only appeared in three movies so far, Miss India: The Mystery (2003), Aan: Men at Work (2004) and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009).
The beautiful Geeta Basra was born on March 13th, 1984 in Portsmouth, England, but her family moved to Mumbai, India.
She made her acting debut in the 2006 Bollywood film Dil Diya Hai and followed that up with 2007 movie, The Train.
Geeta says the reason that she has done so few movies is that she is very picky about her roles.
Neither film did well at the box office, so maybe being picky is a good move for her right now.
Indian film actress, model, and host Genelia D'Souza was born on August 5, 1987 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India.
She made her acting debut in 2003 in the film Tujhe Meri Kasam. For her role as Anjali (Anju) in the film, she was nominated for the Star Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Female.
