Indiana Jones movies in chronological order

List of Indiana Jones movies in chronological order is tough to guess from the titles of the movies or from the cover images of the DVDs as the four Indiana Jones movies are not numbered like the usual series. Indiana Jones is a fictional American adventurer character which is famously and brilliantly played by Hollywood actor Harrison Ford. The look of Indiana Jones is characterized by a bullwhip, fedora (felt hat) and a leather jacket).

Here's the list of Indiana Jones movies in chronological order of release date:

Raiders of the lost ark (June 12, 1981)
Temple of Doom (May 23, 1984)
The Last Crusade (May 24, 1989)
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (May 22, 2008)

Indiana Jones Raiders of the lost ark (1981)

Released in 1981, this hit action adventure film is directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by George Lucas with Harrison Ford in the lead. The adventurer Indiana Jones searches for the Ark of the Covenant, which is also searched by the Nazis in an attempt to make their army invincible. John Williams composed the score for Raiders of the Lost Ark which became very popular and a great theme music for the series. Following the success of Raiders of the lost Ark movie, a prequel "The Temple of Doom" and two sequels, "The Last Crusade" and "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" and plenty of video games were created. This Raiders movie is the first in the list of Indiana Jones movies in order.

2. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)

Set in India, director Steven Spielberg takes us through a variety of fun adventures with Indiana Jones in this 1984 megahit movie "Temple of Doom". Indiana Jones has to rescue the Sankara Stone from the evil hands that believes bringing together the 3 sankara stones will bring fame, power and glory. Indiana is forced to drink the "Blood of Kali", a mind-control potion which puts him into a trance called the "Black Sleep of Kali Ma," and begins to serve Mola Ram. How he comes out of it and saves the sacred stone and returns it to the villagers forms the rest of the story.

3. Indiana Jones The Last Crusade (1989)

Indiana Jones recovers an artifact that he found as a kid, the Cross of Francisco De Coronado from treasure hunters. Jones discovers the history of another biblical artifact called "The Holy Grail". He was also informed that his father, Henry Jones is missing. Jones has to find his father who is looking for the Grail. However, Jones will become involved in the search of the Holy Grail along with his father, as well as fighting the Nazis to reach it. Release in 1989, this movie and another megahit from the Indiana Jones series of movies and the next movie is not until 2008.

4. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

During the Cold War, Soviet agents watch Professor Henry Jones when a young man brings him a coded message from an aged, demented colleague, Henry Oxley. Led by the brilliant Irina Spalko, the Soviets tail Jones and the young man, Mutt, to Peru. With Oxley's code, they find a legendary skull made of a single piece of quartz. If Jones can deliver the skull to its rightful place, all may be well; but if Irina takes it to its origin, she'll gain powers that could endanger the West. Aging professor and young buck join forces with a woman from Jones's past to face the dangers of the jungle, Russia, and the supernatural. This is the last movie and a great fun movie in the List of Indiana Jones movies in chronological order.
