Michael Strahan is a former football defensive end who played for only the New York Giants of the National Football League during his 15-year career from 1993 to 2007. Before he retired, he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004. After he retired from the NFL, Strahan became a media personality.

Strahan is currently a football analyst on Fox NFL Sunday. He is one of the co-hosts on ABC's Good Morning America and its spinoff, Strahan, Sara, and Keke. He is also the host of the revamped game show, $100,000 Pyramid.

The former football player and current television host has had a few small parts in movies. Those roles include being in Ice Age: Collision Course, Magic Mike XXL, Entourage, Charged, Are We There Yet?, and Black-ish. Additionally, Strahan has been the producer of 14 television shows. He has produced three songs for the soundtrack of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. In 2015, he published a motivational book, Wake Up Happy: The Dream Big, Win Big Guide to Transforming Your Life.

In 2015, Strahan launched a clothing line called Collection by Michael Strahan sold exclusively through J. C. Penney that includes men's suits, collared shirts, belts, ties, cufflinks, suspenders, and other accessories.

From this brief profile of Michael Strahan, it is obvious that the 47-year-old television personality is not hurting for money.

So, is he a deadbeat dad? His ex-wife, Jean Muggli might think he is, according to TMZ Sports.

Deadbeat Dad: Definition

A deadbeat dad is a male parent who neglects to pay child support to take care of his children and one who does not fulfill his parental responsibilities. One main thing that makes a man a deadbeat dad is that he does not honor his court-ordered child support obligations or custody arrangements.

TMZ Sports reported that Muggli is seeking around $547,000 from Strahan for child support for their 15-year-old twin daughters. She claims Strahan has underpaid child support since 2010 because the monthly amount he pays hasn’t been adjusted for the cost of living even though his salary has increased with his multiple jobs. She is seeking $321,654 in back support, according to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports.

Court documents show that Muggli claims Strahan agreed to split horseback riding bills for his daughters Sophia and Isabella. Since 2017, the bill has gone up to $450,802.

Besides the unpaid horseback riding bills, Muggli claims Strahan has underpaid child support dating back to 2010. because the monthly amount he pays hasn't been adjusted for cost of living. She wants $321,654 in back support to make up the difference.

Strahan says he has a good reason for not paying the bill for horseback riding. He explained that he never agreed to split the horseback riding bill with his ex-wife. He did admit that he agreed to the cost-of-living adjustments, but that amount is “vague and indefinite.”

By Muggli's calculation, she is entitled to get at least $547,000 which included half of the horseback riding bill and $321.654 in back child support.

Back to Court

The parent of Sophia and Isabella married in 1999 and divorced in 2006. The twins were born in 2004. When the couple divorced, the judge awarded Muggli $15.3 million and ordered Strahan to pay $18,000 a month in child support. Three years later in 2009, that amount was decreased to $13,000. However, Strahan's monthly income increased because he landed two new jobs. One was on Fox NFL Sunday and the other one was on Good Morning America. He has added several other jobs to his resume since then, but the child support has not been adjusted to be in compliance with the cost of living.

Muggli and Strahan were in court in Manhattan last month and are due back in court in November for a hearing. At that time, the judge will do the math and decide how much money Strahan should give Muggli.

Strahan was married to his first wife, Wanda Hutchins, until 1996. Their daughter, Tanita Strahan was born in 1992 and their son, Michael Anthony Strahan, Jr. was born in 1995.

In 1999, Strahan married Jean Muggli. They have twin daughters who were born in 2004. They divorced acrimoniously in 2006. In January 2007, Judge James B. Convery awarded Muggli $15 million in a divorce settlement in addition to $18,000 monthly child support which was more than half of Strahan's $22 million net worth at the time. He is worth three times as much today.

Michael Strahan's Net Worth

Michael Strahan has many different careers and projects going on at the same time. Therefore, it is hard to keep up with all the money he is making and what his actual net worth is because it changes so quickly.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Strahan is worth more than $65 million. Most of that is thought to have come from his football career, where his total accumulative salary is thought to be approximately $60 million. His highest-paid season was in 2003 when he reportedly earned $20.6 million from his contract alone. He was named the highest-paid retired athlete in 2015.

From his various hosting jobs and endorsements, Michael typically earns around $17-$20 million per year. That amount could be much higher because of the various paychecks he gets from so many different sources.

It is hard to determine Strahan's exact net worth and what his yearly salary is, but the judge will know. Then the judge will decide on the adjustments that need to be made to settle the claim Jean Muggli has made for child support for their 14-year-old twin daughters until they are emancipated at age 18.

Strahan is very close to all four of his children. He often talks about his teenage twins on his talk shows. Hopefully, this situation can be resolved amicably.
