Jason Glenn - Nashville Recording Artist
Introducing Jason Glenn
What happens in Nashville, stays in Nashville. Kinda. If you have never had the opportunity to visit Music City and experience the ambience along Broadway in East Nashville, I highly suggest it.
I visited Nashville for one reason — music. Actually country music, but I was pleasantly surprised with an amazing mixture of most genres. Yes, I even heard rap, soul and they were singing the blues. I was impressed with their drive and desire to fuel their passion — music.
Walking along Broadway the sounds of music pours out into the streets while the alcohol is poured into the chilled glasses inside the bars. Then comes the laughter, the dancing, the new friendships made. What a fine combination — music, dancing, laughter, friends and booze.
Jason Glenn hails from Orange County in Southern California. He calls a small town between San Diego and Los Angeles home. Jason performs in Nashville on occasion and when he does he leaves an everlasting memory among the patrons.
So, here we have a cowboy from SoCal who is about to rock your world, in a country kinda way. Jason started his career as a Tim McGraw tribute artist and the rest is history in the making.
Kick back and join Jason and Sunshine as we make him shine!
Is There A Family History Of Musicians?
Yes, my dad used to do Elvis at Disneyland. He also cut some records, but I don't know much about that. My brother has his own show, as an Elvis Tribute Artist in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood at a show called "All Shook Up."
How Did You Get Started In The Music Industry?
In 2010, my dad said since I've been told I have the look like Tim McGraw, I could put on shows as a tribute artist for an hour show. I told him that he was nuts and I could only sing four songs at a time. As time passed, I traveled around the country putting on shows with my band as a Tim McGraw tribute artist. Why has that helped me? By doing so, I have been able to sneak in my own songs and I had people lining up to take my picture and buy my CDs. That has helped me not be so nervous performing for large crowds at casinos and other venues.
Is There A Musician That Inspired You?
Yes, mainly that was Tim McGraw. But I got started listening to country music with George Strait, Joe Diffie, Restless Heart, Diamond Rio, etc...
Tim McGraw's music hits home in many ways due to his music relating to real life situations that I've been through.
Have You Had Vocal Training?
My dad was always a good teacher and I was in choir through my high school years. During my senior year I won male vocalist of the year. Plus I've been in many musicals including Wizard of Oz, Grease, Oklahoma, etc...
Do You Write Your Own Songs?
Yes I do! My first EP "Ups and Downs" I wrote "Bad Boy" and "Don't Lead Me On." The other songs were written by my brother over 18 years ago.
How About A Record Deal?
Not yet, but I'm hoping for one soon. I can't do it all on my own. I do hope the right label comes along because it's very difficult to put all my effort in and use my money to push hard on my music instead of paying bills.
Where Do You See Yourself In 5 Years?
On tour either as an opener for a major artist or what the heck, even headlining, who knows. Plus I would love to hear one of my songs hit #1 on the billboard charts. I know that's dreaming big, but I believe if you want it bad enough, you will get it.
(Go big or go home!)
How Long Have You Been In The Entertainment Industry?
I started acting when I was a kid in a few episodes of the Wonder Years and a couple of no name movies. Then I tried stand up, even got a few spots at the Improv, but it made me too nervous. I would rather sing in front of thousands than try to make 50 people laugh. I've been in the music industry for 8 years.
Who Is Your Muse?
That would definitely by my girlfriend. Because of her I am as far as I am now. If it wasn't for her, I would have given up. Trying to succeed in this business is not only difficult, but very stressful and discouraging. She came with me to Nashville and it really helped me to put all my heart and soul into singing the new songs.
How About A Story About A Song You Are Working On?
I just finished recording in Nashville, which I'm very excited about. My first single from that is, "It's What I Like" which release date is soon. Next I will be releasing a EP, titled "It's What I Like," with songs including the title, "Mojitos By The Bay" which is a song about a guy who had a break up, but all he can do is think about all the places they drank together.
What Are Your Thoughts On The Evolution Of Country Music?
It started to try and evolve into the pop world, but I noticed it started swerving back to where it should be. Some of it kinda leaned towards rock sounding, but people like George Strait and Garth Brooks would never veer off to another realm, but they keep it country as it should be.
Most Memorable Moment (So Far) In Your Career?
I had the privilege to perform for a group of children with Down Syndrome. They thought I was a star. From that moment on, I knew this is what I had to do. They inspired me to continue making music.
If You Could Perform A "One Night Only" Concert Anywhere In The World, Where Would That Be?
It would have to be Paris because my girl has always wanted to go there to see the Lancome Factory since she is a certified makeup artist and she is really good at it! She wants to do makeup for celebrities - check her out at @makeupbygeriliz (nice plug for your girl, Jason!)
I can see the road I have traveled, and if I keep moving forward, I will find what I'm looking for.— Jason Glenn
Which Song Have You Written Is Most Special To You?
I would say "Bad Boy" because it was basically the start of a new life for me. I was just over all the hurt that I have been through and that song is basically an I don't care anymore, I'm done trying to make something happen and that was literally right before I met the love of my life.

"When we kiss, I still get butterflies, from your lips, softer than a lullaby, when we touch it lights me like a firefly, leaves me breathless, weak kneed and tongue tied, I don't know what it is, but it's what I like!" - From "It's What I Like"
