The Jersey Shore Reality T.V. Show From Beginning to End

Updated on July 18, 2014

Jersey Shore was a reality television show that first aired in December of 2009. On August 30, 2012 it was announced that the show will be cancelled after its sixth and final season. Although Jersey Shore was extremely popular it was very controversial and widely criticised for its stereotypical portrayals of young Italian Americans.

People have completely mixed opinions about Jersey Shore and needless to say, a lot of people have a lot to say about the show. The show was very successful and made stars of the originally "normal" and average cast members.

I know a lot of people are glad that Jersey Shore is being cancelled. Reality t.v. isn't for some folks and this show is in a league of it's own when it comes to vulgarity and living the party life. Regardless, it was entertaining and even people that are against that lifestyle still followed the show.

It was the biggest, most popular reality t.v. show and had millions of followers. However, the cast members were getting older and developing within their personal lives and the same old antics are only exciting for so long. The show was going to be cancelled sooner or later. There will probably never be another Jersey Shore but we'll have to see what the next huge reality t.v. show phenomenon will be.

The Jersey Shore Cast Members

The Jersey Shore cast members consisted of 4 males and 4 females, although one of the original female cast members (Angelina) left the show and was later replaced by another female (Deena).

Although the main cast members remained the same throughout each of the seasons, many friends and family members played large roles in various episodes as well.

Michael Sorrentino "The Situation"

Michael Sorrentino, "The Situation" was born on July 4, 1982 in Staten Island, New York and grew up in New Jersey. He was one of the members of the Jersey Shore "MVP" trio which stood for Mike, Vinny, and Pauly. He's appeared on numerous talk shows and was even a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. Mike hooked up with a lot of females in each of the Jersey Shore episodes and never got really serious about any of them although he seemingly had feelings for Samantha since the very first episode and attempted to sabotage her relationship with Ronnie.

Nicole Polizzi "Snooki"

Nicole Polizzi "Snooki" was born on November 23, 1987 in Santiago, Chili and was raised by her adoptive parents in New York. Snooki is probably known as much for her partying ways as she is her famous hairdo, the "Snooki Poof." Snooki spent most of her time on Jersey Shore looking for Mr. Right and he eventually came along. Snooki and her man Jionni LaValle, who she met while filming the show, now have a beautiful baby boy together.

Jennifer Farley "JWoww"

Jennifer Farley "JWoww"

Jennifer Farley, "JWoww," was born on February 27, 1986 in Franklin Square, New York. JWoww is both beautiful and tough, never backing down from a fight. The show captured JWoww's breakup with her boyfriend Tom and the beginning of her relationship with current boyfriend Roger. She also didn't hold back from flirting with a couple other guys. She hit it off with Jersey Shore BFF Snooki and had an on again, off again (mostly off) relationship with Samantha.

Paul DelVecchio "Pauly D"

Paul DelVecchio "DJ Pauly D"

Paul DelVecchio, "Pauly D" was born on July 5, 1980 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the super fun loving, spiked hair sporting, extra tanned, and well groomed "P" in the Jersey Shore "MVP" trio. Pauly was never looking for any serious relationship and looked more forward to partying each night followed by "GTL" (gym, tanning, laundry) the next day.

Vinny Guadagnino

Vinny Guadagnino

Vinny Guadagnino was born on November 11, 1987 in Staten Island, New York. Vinny is the "V" in the Jersey Shore "MVP" trio. Although he was a hard partier like the rest of the housemates, Vinny was probably the quietest one of the bunch. He was also really smart as he graduated college with a 3.9 GPA. Like the other members of MVP, Vinny didn't pursue any serious relationships but hooked up with several females, including a couple of his housemates.

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro was born on December 4, 1985 in The Bronx, New York. Ronnie was the beefiest of the men and snatched up quickly by Samantha. Their relationship played out throughout each season of Jersey Shore with them breaking up multiple times and each of them hooking up with or fooling around with other people, placing even more of a strain on their already rocky relationship. Obviously it would only take time for each of them to find out anyways seeing as it was caught on tape.

Samantha "Sweetheart" Giancola

Samantha Giancola "Sweetheart"

Samantha Giancola, "Sweetheart" was born on March 14, 1987 in Hazlet, New Jersey. The beginning of Jersey Shore saw a possible relationship blossoming between Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino but that quickly fizzled out when Samantha hooks up with Ronnie. Although she got along with her housemates on some occasions, she was often seen as the outsider. She'd rather spend time alone with Ronnie than out partying for the most part. But who would blame her?

Deena Nicole Cortese

Deena Nicole Cortese

Deena Nicole Cortese was born on January 10, 1987 in New Egypt, New Jersey. Deena auditioned for the original Jersey Shore along with her friend from home, Snooki. She wasn't cast but appeared on the show as Snooki's friend. When Angelina finally left the show for good in Season 2, a new female needed to be brought in. Deena was loved by the housemates as well as the television audience and she was brought in during Season 3 as a regular cast member. She and Snooki continuously refer to themselves on Jersey Shore as "the two meatballs."

Angelina Pivarnick

Angelina Pivarnick

Angelina Pivarnick was born on May 23, 1987 in Staten Island, New York. She wasn't like much by the Jersey Shore cast from early on in the show and Angelina wasn't afraid to voice her opinion about her housemates either. Sadly, she was often referred to as "the Staten Island Dump." She was treated very poorly by her housemates and couldn't seem to find a friend amongst them. She ultimately left the show during season 2.

Season One

The pilot episode for season one aired on December 3, 2009 and the finale (9th episode) for the season aired on January 21, 2010. The housemates all moved into the Jersey Shore house and met each other for the first time. The first season was filmed at the Jersey Shore beach house where the cast spent their summer working in a t-shirt shop on the boardwalk.

Episode 4 of season 1 helped the show to gain even more attention when Snooki was punched in the face by a man in a bar. This incident brought Snooki, who was an outcast in previous episodes, closer to the rest of the housemates. Episode 6 of season 1 saw another punch to the face when Ronnie knocked out a guy with one hit while walking home from the club.

Season Two

Season two saw the cast of Jersey Shore head south to Miami. This season wasn't much different from the first except that the cast was living and partying in a new location.

Ronnie and Sammi had broken it off but seem to rekindle their relationship early on in the season when they realize they still have feelings for each other. However, Ronnie spend a wild night out that has Sammi questioning what happened when she didn't tag along with the rest of the group. Regardless of her suspicions, nobody wants to tell her the truth until Sammi receives an "anonymous" note from JWoww and Snooki.

Angelina surprisingly comes back for the second season and begins to date Jose, a guy she met at the bar. Angelina hooks up with Vinnie after she began dating Jose and before having hooked up with Jose. The housemates really begin to dig into her which eventually causes Angelina to pack up her bags for good.

Season 2 aired on July 29, 2012 and had its 13th and final episode on October 21, 2010.

Season Three

In season three the cast return to Seaside Heights, New Jersey with a new member, Deena Cortese, and minus Angelina.

Most of the tension from Miami returns and the housemates try to reconcile with one another, after some confrontations first, of course. Sammi is still upset with Ronnie for fooling around in Miami and she continues to isolate herself from the group. Pauly's "stalker" from season one returns and Deena gets kicked out of the bar on her first night.

Episode three of season three sees Snooki get arrested for being drunk and disorderly in public.

Season three aired on January 6, 2011 and had its thirteenth and final episode on March 24, 2011.

Season Four

Season four first aired on August 4, 2011 and had its twelth and final episode on October 20, 2011.

Season four shows the cast as they head off to Florence, Italy for the same partying and good times. This time the cast are working in an authentic Italian pizzaria. Ronnie and Sammi once again try to work out their relationship and Snooki meets Jionni, her future baby's daddy.

Mike continues to dig his nose into Ronnie and Sammi's business along with everyone else's and eventually a fight breaks out in episode 5 when Ronnie has enough. Mike bangs his own head into a wall, giving himself a concussion and having an ambulance arrive to take him away.

Snooki cheats on her boyfriend while she's drunk and almost loses him. Luckily for her, she finds a way to win him back. The season closes with Mike questioning his return to the Jersey Shore for another season due to his continuing conflicts with the housemates.

Season Five

Season five aired its first episode on January 5, 2012 and its eleventh and final episode on March 15, 2012.

Season five sees the cast return once again to the Jersey Shore where tension is still brewing between cast members. JWoww continues her relationship with Roger and Snooki tries to hold on to her relationship with Jionni. As always, Mike continues to stir up trouble and push the buttons of his other housemates.

With the exception of a few new scenarios, the fifth season isn't all that different from the others. The partying, fights, and relationship issues all remain the same. Either way, it still drew audiences entertained the crowd like it always has.

Season Six

The sixth and final season of Jersey Shore aired on October 4, 2012.

I don't think you're alone on that one. A lot of people found them to be loud and vulgar. It was suprising to see it last so long.

I never watched the show. I think you have to live in that area to appreciate their lifestyle. From the early commercials it seemed to be a collection of loud mouth people swearing at each other a lot. Not something I wanted to listen to.
