John Legend and Johnny Gray Duets Performances

Updated on May 25, 2012

John Legend is one of four celebrities pariticipating on the Duets ABC TV show. In this singing contest, the celebrities get paired with non-celebrities to sing duets in an elimination format. At the end of the show, the last contestant standing gets a record deal with Hollywood Records.

John Legend is paired up with Johnny Gray. The latter says on his Duets bio page that he is a versatile singer who can handle any genre. Versatility can be a big asset on these shows, so this is one I will be watching out for when Duets premieres on Thursday, May 24th. Johnny regular job is a karaoke DJ. It sounds like he knows a lot about music. Now, we just need to see if he can back it up with his vocals.

This contest has Johnny and 7 other non-celebrity contestants. He will need to be the sole survivor to win the champion's record deal with Hollywood Records. Duets has not revealed the elimination rules, so we need to check out the premiere episode of the 24th to see how it is going to go down.

I'll put a recap here each time John and Johnny sing a duet on the show. Check back after the show each week to share your thoughts on their performance.

John and Johnny performed one of John's big hit singles, "Ordinary People," on the premiere episode of May 24, 2012. I felt that Johnny was a clear second behind John Glosson, who got screwed in the voting in 4th. But the judges did basically agree with me on Johnny, who also got 2nd in the official scoring.
