Jon Stewart Going to Direct a Movie?

Updated on March 6, 2013

If you heard that Jon Stewart is going to direct a film when he leaves for the summer, you are correct. According to the Huffington Post, Jon Stewart the host of the “Daily Show” will be taking the summer off to direct a movie. He will be leaving John Oliver to fill in, while he is away.

Stewart will be taking about 12 weeks off this summer. Oliver will only be filling in for about 8 of them and the other four weeks they will be playing repeats. This means for all you die hard Stewart fans you will have to go around three months without a dose of Stewart’s sarcastic commentary!

Stewart is directing the drama “Rosewater” from a screenplay he wrote a while back. It is actually an adaptation of “And Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival” that was written by Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy.

Stewart felt really connected to Maziar’s story. He was a little scared to direct the movie, but he said he is more than ready to challenge himself.

For all of you Jon Stewart fans, you may miss him for three months, but during that difficult time for you just keep in mind he is doing something that you will appreciate when the final product is released.
