Kazaky Dancing Band: Men in High Heels
Do you often wear heels? Can you spend all day long in them? Can you dance in them? Jump in them? Live in them?
Well, if you answered "no" to any of the questions, you should definitely check these guys out. They would make any of us, girls, ashamed... We've already seen guys wearing high heels, but have you seen guys DANCING in them?!
Kazaky is a new Ukrainian dance group formed in 2010. They became popular nearly straight away making appearances at famous designers' runway shows in Italy. In July 2011 they performed in USA for the first time, at Providence club in New York City, and then at Score Nightclub in Miami (the same club Lady Gaga performed before her rise to fame).
The dance style of Kazaky is hard to define by one word. It's the combination of different styles and cultures. But there are two main elements in their choreography - acro dance and waacking.
Acro dance has a long history. It was born more than a century ago as a combination of classic dance and acrobatic elements. It's a difficult style that requires excellent fitness and artistic capabilities.
But main component in Kazaky's choreography is waacking. Waacking is a style of street dance which traces its roots back to gay and nightclub cultures. It was born when male performers dressed as women and performed to female songs on stage. The main features of waacking is runway walk, pretentious artistic behavior, the apparent relaxation of the body. But at the same time - sharp, energetic movements with the arms and legs literally splashing out emotions.
Madonna + Kazaky = Girl Gone Wild
Kazaky appeared in a recent Madonna's music video Girl Gone Wild. A pretty great for a Ukrainian band.
I'd like to finish with a comment posted for one of their videos on YouTube, "OMG. I'm a woman and I wish I had those moves, heels, and legs!" Can't be said better!
What do you think?
