Songs can lighten us up when we are feeling low. They have the ability to restore a tired soul. Music is a form of art. It is a wonderful combination of pitch, rhythm, dynamics, timbre and texture. Listening to your own favourite type of music can transport you into a new world where there is peace and joy. You can use the right music for your aerobic exercises, as a form of relaxation, to accompany your yoga exercises, etc.

Music was appreciated even by people living in pre-historic times. The Hurrian Song was found on clay tablets and dates back to about 1400 B.C. In the Medieval times there was chanting in the Roman Catholic Church. Renaissance Music was different from this since it focused on secular themes. From 1600 to 1750, there was the Baroque era of music. The first operas were written and composers wrote small ensembles. This gave way to the lighter and clearer music in the form of the classics. The classics were replaced by Romantic Music. This was passionate and communicative. In the 20th and 21st century, the radio gained popularity. Jazz and Rock music evolved.
