Lady Gaga Video Poker Face Dog Great Dane Rumpus found dead!

Updated on June 18, 2015

Rumpus, one of the dogs in the Lady Gaga Pokerface video

Sad news from the owner of both dogs in the Lady Gaga hit video "Pokerface". Rumpus, one of the great danes in the video was found dead earlier this month according to his owner Suzzanne Kelleher-Duckett (yes I had to check how to spell her name few times..).

According to TMZ.com owner told that dog died after a hike in Los Angeles. This is where it gets funky, story states that "dog had no signs of injury and appeared to be in perfect health". Then they say that autopsy was performed few days ago and we are waiting results.

Why wait so long for the autopsy? When did he he die? Is that the whole story? (Remember to vote on a poll underneath!!). Rumpus was 5-years old and this website shows him in the action, he was seemingly a popular show dog and a star in the commercials and videos (hence a good money maker for his owner): http://www.pchgreatdanes.com/Rumpus.htm

In that famous Pokerface video by Lady Gaga Rumpus appeared with his dam Lava who is owned by the same lady. Reportedly both dogs were supposed to appear on the newest Lady Gaga video called "Bad Romance" but now only one dog will do the gig.

Whatever the reason for the death of this majestic looking animal, many will mourn his death for sure. I know those dogs left a great impression for me to remember in all those Lady Gaga videos! If anyone knows the autopsy reports please comment under.

R.I.P. Rumpus!

Do you believe Rumpus died on natural causes?

First off IF the dog did die of bloat that would be easily detectable. Secondly, this dog was correctly bred, health, temperament, conformation and structure. The breeder is ethical and the dog was well taken care of and an AKC Champion. Third, what is being discovered now is the kissing bug in the lower half of the USA can be a culprit of many dog deaths via cardiac. Once bitten Chagas disease is caused by a protozoa, Trypanosoma cruzi, that, once in a mammalian host, circulates in the blood until it finds a smooth muscle tissue - usually in the heart - where it takes up residence and begins damaging that tissue. Often, the first clinical signs of the disease in dogs is sudden death from heart failure. There are currently no vaccines that prevent the disease, treatments are invariably minimally effective and there is no cure for Chagas disease. People are exposed to it too. Read up on it at the CDC website. Danes do not live all that long, however I have had them live until almost 12 years, 10 -12 is average, this comes from proper care but also genetics. Death at 5 is unusual, since this dog was always healthy, as are all her dogs, since this was long ago I am sure they know by now., Beware of the kissing bug, it is deadly and can affect litters of puppies born to a female that has been bitten. Puppies will die by 12 weeks of age if exposed.

I believe it was of natural causes because my min pin died suddenly due to the cause of a benign tumor that caused her kidney to burst. She was in no pain and their was no signs, so their was no way to save her. That's life for you.

I actually know the owner of this dog. For these people to emphasize that he was a money maker, shame on you. He died of natural causes, as natural as can get for a giant breed of dog. I also show Harlequin Great Danes. Shame on the writer of this article.

We've hd Danes for 29 years. Sudden death is not uncommon, sadly. Could be cardiac issues, could be hemangiosarcoma, could be bloat, tho in the latter case, there would have been some indication.

When you breed for size, you lose a bit of life, the gentle giants do not need to be giants and bred like ones, the judges most judges don't know the standard abd do not pick the standard but for size and head size. It is a shame, the standard for a bitch is 27" and dogs 32:. They do not have to be 35 for the bitch and 38 for the dog. So sad but true, They need to get there act together the Breaders!

I have a great dane and out of the blue he got extremely sick. We rushed him to the emergency hostipal and he had bloat. Bloat hits very fast without warning and they can die within hours. Lucky for us we got to the hostipal in time and they did emergency surgery. He is doing great now and its been almost a year. So yes, I can see it happen the way it was explained.

Great Danes also suffer from heart problems, so this can be a cause of this dogs death.

It's not her dog. It's the dog from her video. It's a beautiful show Great Dane. That's sad. I know a few that have died young for no apparent reason. I have two girls myself, both show girls. And my sister owns a boy. All Fawn. I prefer Fawn to Harle's :P

Great danes need not live a shorter life, a common misconception. If looked after well and fed on a proper diet they can live to be up to 12 years old, which is a good age for any pedigree dog. As for Rumpus' death, I am sure it was natural, how does anyone benefit from covering up a seedy past? Thats just the Jackson family that do that.

I'm sure it was of natural causes. Anyone who knows anything about dogs knows that the large breeds- like great danes- have much shorter lifespans than that of small breeds. Sad, but true.
