Brief intro to Lahore
The historic city of Lahore is the second largest city of Pakistan with population of above 10 million according to a recent survey in 2011. Lahore has remained the capital of Punjab region for more than a thousand years and also served as a capital of different empires and dynasties which followed each other in Indian subcontinent in the past 1000 years. Lahore was cultural centre of northern Indian subcontinent which extends from the eastern banks of Indus river to New Delhi. Lahore is an ancient city. According to most of the historians Lahore is about 2000 to 4000 years old city.
It was Lahore where the famous resolution for the existence of a separate state for the Muslims of subcontinent was passed in 1940, which is known as Resolution of Pakistan. Today Lahore is capital of the province of Punjab in Pakistan. Lahore is the largest Punjabi speaking city in the world. Lahore is 5th most populated city in subcontinent and 26th largest city in the world.
