Mann & Wife Series Review (bounce Tv)
DAVID & Tamela Mann (Bounce TV)
Screening of Mann and Wife Review
The 2015 Stellar Awards was hosted by the well known comedian, David Mann, multiple award winner Tamela Mann and not to forget the hilarious comedian and radio personality Ricky Smiley. With the move of the Stellar Awards to Las Vegas, Nevada from Nashville, I knew the spectators and media would be in for a treat. The array of activities such as movie screenings, forums, stellar performances and award shows created an interesting weekend of learning and a greater appreciation of gospel music.
As an advocate for positive, faith based series, the crew from the Alfreda Love Ministry& Talk Show (Dr. Alfreda Love, Mrs. La Keathlyn Thompson and Mrs. Evelyn Green) had the opportunity to attend a preview of the new series by Bounce TV entitled Mann & Wife. A series or production such as Mann and Wife is appropriate for all age groups and contain comedy, lessons and most of all the reality of the family structure, which is often forgotten in many shows. During the screening there were many people in the audience such as the Mann Clan, press, spectators, authors such as Farrah Gray, comedians, gospel artist and much more. I can truly say we had one thing in common and that was an appreciation for a real series that was interesting, yet free from overwhelming drama.
In reviewing the new Mann and Wife series, let us get a picture of the network Bounce TV. Bounce TV features a programming mix of unique and off-network series, theatrical motion pictures, documentaries, specials and much more. The founders of Bounce TV include Martin Luther King III and Ambassador Andrew Young.
The reality of the preview as is described by the network Bounce summarizes the reality show as,
“Daniel, a police officer from Atlanta, and Toni, a school teacher from Dallas, along with their kids DJ, Tosha, Darren and Terri all move into Daniel's house in the Atlanta suburbs and have to adjust to their new lives together. In addition to David and Tamela, Mann & Wife stars Tony Rock, Tiny Lister and JoMarie Payton, and features guest stars Vivica A. Fox, J. Anthony Brown, Demetria McKinney, Julissa Bermudez and Rolonda Watts.” (Producer Roger Bobb-Former Tyler Perry Studios)
When previewing the screening, this series was very relatable because many homes are filled with extended families. The most interesting aspect of the screening that I enjoyed was that Toni (Tamela Mann) was a school teacher. As we all know, school teachers have a very challenging job and must be able to entertain, teach, model, demonstrate and most of all appreciate unpaid hours of grading papers and making sure the lesson plans are well polished. In the Mann and Wife series, we find that Toni the teacher mentions she has to grade papers while at home (real) and also she has to be a role model in front of her kids and the students in which she teach.
The name Daniel is relatable to Daniel in the Lion’s Den. Daniel finds himself in some uncomfortable positions and has to save himself many times. The life of the television series is Ms. Jo Marie Payton who continuously maintains the charge in the show. She is not the typical mother-in law, and the punch lines were on target and strategically planned. During uncomfortable moments for the characters in the series, Ms. Jo Marie Payton always added humor with expressions and continues to be an integral part of the show. Ms. Vivica Fox who plays as an ex-wife to David Mann (Daniel) keeps the suspense within the series as we wonder what her next move will be and how she will rebuild her relationship with her children without offending Toni (Tamela Mann).
Overall, Mann and Wife will be a hit series. One audience guest asked Tamela Mann if she would incorporate singing into the Mann and Wife series. Tamela’s response was that the main focus is acting and she may add some music within the series. Whether Tamela Mann adds music or not, she will continue to be one of the most anointed psalmist in the gospel industry and greatest actress on tv.
