Margaret Minnicks has been an online writer for many years. She writes about various things, including celebrities and entertainment.

Married at First Sight is a reality series that aired on the FYI network in 2014. It aired on FYI and A&E in Seasons 2-4. In 2017, the show moved to the Lifetime channel where it currently airs.

In seven seasons, three couples were matched by the experts. Season 8 is the first season with four couples that have been paired up by relationship experts.

The social experience is based on the couples meeting for the first time and saying, "I do" at the altar. They go on a honeymoon decided by the show after spending their wedding night in a hotel. After the honeymoon is over, the couples return home and live together as a married couple for eight weeks. At the end of the social experiment, the couple can either choose to stay married or divorce.

Over seven seasons with 21 couples, only five couples are still married even though 15 couples said they would stay married on the seasons' finales.

The Experts

The first three seasons had four experts that worked with the couples. Dr. Joseph Cilona was the clinical psychologist along with sexologist Dr. Logan Levkoff, sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and humanist chaplain Greg Epstein.

Starting with the fourth season, Dr. Schwartz was the only returning expert. Calvin Roberson joined the show as pastor and marriage counselor. Rachel DeAlto was the communication and relationship expert only on Seasons 4 and 5.

Rachel is also a former attorney, mother of two and was a fan favorite as an expert during her short tenure on Married at First Sight. DeAlto was replaced by Dr. Jessica Griffin in the sixth season.

Dr. Jessica Griffin

Dr. Jessica Griffin is a 41-year-old clinical and forensic psychologist. For over 15 years, she has worked with couples going through a divorce. Even though she helps others, she is divorced with three young children.

It was initially a secret, but now it has been confirmed by both parties that Dr. Griffin is dating Jonathan Francetic, a 29-year-old financial adviser who married Molly Duff on Season 6 of the reality show. Molly did not find herself attracted to Jon, and they actually split up on bad terms before the social experiment ended

After their official divorce at the end of the eight-week experiment, Dr. Griffin began dating Jonathan in August 2018. They announced their engagement on April 14, 2019. They both run a business together called Love Builder.

When it was confirmed that Dr. Griffin and Jonathan were indeed dating, there was some backlash on social media. Even though Jonathan explained their position online, it did not stop the criticisms.

The general consensus on Facebook and Twitter was that even though Jonathan and Molly were not a good match, the relationship between Jon and Jessica was unethical and against the rules. That's because Jessica was one of the couple's marriage counselors.

A woman commented that the relationship speaks poorly about Jessica's profession. Jon responded by saying he and Jessica did research about the ethical codes before they started dating. He added that there was nothing in his contract that indicates Dr. Jessica's license should be revoked because they are dating.

Jessica defended her position by saying that her role on the show does not replace actual therapy. Therefore, she did not have a client-therapist or doctor-patient relationship with any of the couples.

What do you think about Dr. Jessica Griffin and Jonathan Francetic dating?
