Alec is a film critic with a true passion for the film industry & hopes his reviews and articles will help launch his career.

Megan Leavey tells the incredible story of a young woman who, after losing her best friend to an overdose, decides to sign up with the Marines. She earns her spot on the Dog Bomb-Seek Team and is given the most ferocious dog the Marines have. She shows the dog, Rex, that she will not back down and demands respect. Rex learns to respect and obey her and together they make a great team. But war is unpredictable, and the twists ahead bring challenges that Megan never thought she'd have to face.

Kate Mara has come a long way from her small role in Random Hearts. She's grown into a talented young woman and surpasses her previous roles with every new role she takes. Taking on the emotional role of Megan Leavey required not only physical strength for the military aspect but also mental strength for the moving story and the required emotional output needed.

Another surprisingly great performance comes from Tom Felton who plays a war veteran that has just returned from battle and warns the trainees what battle is really like. He supports Megan as she trains for the K-9 unit and helps her get her bearings.

One person in particular that needs special recognition is director Gabriela Cowperthwaite. Considering this is her first feature film, Gabriela captures the drama and emotion and realism of war perfectly. I look forward to seeing what all she will accomplish in her future career.

In conclusion, Megan Leavey is one fantastic film that everyone needs to see. It shows not only what it means to be a war hero, but also what it means to be an every day hero to people and animals alike. If you're looking for a film that will be realistic but also capture bravery, love, sacrifice, and honor then Megan Leavey is for you. I give it a 4 out of 4.

I hadn't heard much about this movie, but it looked like it could be a great film. I will have to check it out. Thank you for the review.
