Meghan Markle's Friends Defend Her for Being Globally Bullied

Updated on August 22, 2019

Margaret Minnicks has been an online writer for many years. She writes articles about the royals.

Five of Meghan Markle's friends have come to her defense following months of global bullying against her. Not all people are happy that the Duchess of Sussex is happily married to Prince Harry. The tabloids and social media are filled with vicious things about her. The friends spoke to People magazine anonymously.

While Meghan can't defend herself in the press, five of her female friends, including a former co-star, are speaking out about how rude and insensitive some people are toward the 37-year-old pregnant royal who will give birth to her first child in just a few months.

What some people are falsely accusing Meghan of is nothing like the Meghan her friends know.

Rumors About the Duchess of Sussex

Meghan has been the subject of negative comments since she started dating Prince Harry back in 2016. During the early stages of their relationship, she was harassed so much that Prince Harry asked the press to back off and stop harassing her. However, the earlier bouts of global bullying were nothing compared to what it is today.

Everything the Duchess of Sussex does is under a microscope which gives fodder for haters to embellish and talk about. When there is nothing to talk about, some people make up their own stories and run with them. Various negative topics have come up in the past months that her friends say are completely false.

  • feuding with Kate Middleton, her sister-in-law
  • moving from Kensington Palace to get away from Prince William and Kate
  • not getting along with her staffers which have caused several to quit
  • bossing Prince Harry to get her way

Why Friends Are Speaking Out Anonymously

At the beginning of Meghan's marriage to Prince Harry, her friends were ordered not to speak about what was going on in their marriage. So far, the friends have honored that request. Speaking out about how Meghan is being bullied all over the world is different.

They are defending her character as they know her to be instead of saying anything about her marriage.

It is not that they are afraid or ashamed of what they are saying. Instead, they are doing so anonymously to protect their private relationships. They realize it is an unprecedented move, but they decided they wouldn't stand by any longer without defending their friend. The friends decided to stand up against the global bullying that Meghan has had to endure for months.

Lies and Untruths

Meghan has endured the lies and untruths, but her friends fear how the negative press may be affecting her and her unborn baby that is due in late April or early May. One friend said it is wrong to put anyone under this unnecessary stress especially when the person is pregnant. She added that this level of emotional trauma is uncalled for, and there is nothing to gain from this global bullying that Meghan is experiencing.

What Meghan's Friends Are Saying

In the interview with People, one of Meghan's friends shared that she stayed with her at Kensington Palace’s Nottingham Cottage a few days when Prince Harry was away. She said there were no staffers being shouted at, and Meghan was a gracious host.

The friend says Meghan cooks every day for herself and her husband. She added that it is not what some reports have said about Meghan bossing her husband and he does everything she wants him to do.

"Meghan Isn't Acting"

One of Meghan's friends said that when the public sees Markle stooping down to greet children, it is not an act. She genuinely loves children and talks to them when she is out on assignments.

Not only does she loves connecting with the little ones, but she also loves engaging with the adults. The friends concluded that even though Meghan is a former actress, what she does is not an act. Instead, it is very real and genuine.

Meghan has received lots of bullying from her half-sister, Samantha, who regularly attacks her. Last Friday, journalist Piers Morgan attacked the Duchess of Sussex for writing encouraging words on bananas that were included in lunch baskets for sex workers during her visit to Bristol for the One25 charity.

People hide behind their social media accounts and say negative and untrue things about the Duchess of Sussex. They call her a gold digger and other names. They say she wanted to be famous and get ahead in life. They tend to forget that Meghan gave up a lot to marry Prince Harry. She had a successful acting career with a considerable net worth when she married Prince Harry on May 19, 2018.

Some people have gone so far as to claim that Meghan is not pregnant. Others criticize her for cradling her belly. It is unbelievable what harsh things that show up on social media.

Do you think the friends speaking out in Meghan Markle's defense will help or hurt the situation?

Elle, you are absolutely right. I have read some of the things Piers Morgan said about Meghan. He does seem to have a bone to pick with her. He should get over it and move on.

My mother taught me that if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all.

Piers Morgan has had a bone to pick with Meghan every since he was not invited to her wedding. He thought meeting her one time entitled him to a front seat of her life. I look at him in the same light as I do her Dad's side of the family: out to make a buck off of Meghan. So he decides to tear her down rather than be happy for her. What he and the rest of these naysayers do not understand is the same energy you put out is what you attract. You put out negativity, you receive negativity. You give out love, you receive love. Life is too short to deal in hate. I dare say that Meghan and Harry found each other because of the love they so freely gave to others. Sure seems that way because they seem to be deeply in love with each other. I wish them every happiness!

I think she still has her money. She didn't give it up. I think what she has earned is still hers. She was already famous. He was also famous. I don't think fame factors enormously in here for why they got married. I know love does.

She had her own money but gave it up only to gain more from Harry. I still think she married for money & fame & maybe?? because she was pregnant. Don’t care what friends say. We will know when that baby pops out anytime

Tim, I don't think the fake news about Meghan Markle will disappear. In fact, when her baby is born in the spring, there will be more to talk about.

I like your analogy about hate and the viper. Here is one of my own. "Lies can travel around the world before the truth can tie up its shoes."

I don't think the "fake news" will disappear. Hate has always found a residency on Earth. Perhaps, Meghan and Harry avoid these nasty comments in trashy magazines, but their friends are right to state that this is wrong. When confronted with facts from a creditable source, fake news vanishes.

Hate can only be defeated with love. History has taught us repeatedly, if you give a viper a chance, it strikes. Cage the venomous beast with truth and feed it love until it chokes.

Probably Meghan does not glance at Tabloids like the Sun, UK or The Inquirer, USA----rag papers! Her White half of the family is an embarrassment which hopefully she is able to ignore. The African-American side, her loving mother, is a big asset to her. Bullying is wrong and hateful; those who bully are jealous, have low self-worth and try to elevate themselves by putting others down. Meghan is a humanist, very intelligent, and knows who she is. Perhaps if the "bullies" were ignored,

the whole "fake news" concerning Meghan would disappear.

I have always thought they were a beautiful couple and wish them all the best, especially with the baby coming. I'm sad for the people who are being so negative and making such harsh comments about people they don't know. It seems in this day and age that many have forgotten the golden rule! We would all be much better off if we lived with that in mind.

Tim, I have read some of the comments people write on social media about the Duchess of Sussex. They are terrible things. I don't understand why the comments are so mean toward people they will never meet.

Jealousy and bitterness makes an ugly couple, Margaret. That's the marriage these disgusting people who attack Meghan and Harry cling to in their lives. These people are hating a lady and a young man for finding love, breaking with what people "think" they should have done - these people can't find their prince or princess and resent seeing love happening right before their eyes.

Such individuals also have the hidden viper that I will not mention here, slithering through there hearts. We know what it is and I will not dignify it by calling its name. Love can even send that old snake back to the pit.

Good for her friends. god bless them.

I pray for Harry and Meghan - they took the chance others wish they had the guts to take.

I had no use for the royals before I read of Harry and Meghan's announcement, but now, I see that they may hold deep hope for humanity within their hearts. I definitely respect these two, and the good Queen and her other family members as well.

Great article, Margaret. It's great to see that people still will stand up for principles and values in friendships.

      Much respect and admiration,

I didn't care for her at first and probably because I was so fond of Harry, Diana's baby. With all the bullying she is getting though and especially that rotten sister I have become defensive of her. What an embarrassment that family of hers must be!

I mean everyone deserves a chance! I wish her all the best. Maybe the baby will make a difference.

I pray for her every day. It must be very difficult to adapt to her position, and I hope that she can overcome all the verbal attacks. Ignore them, and just keep evolving into the Royal Family. She is smart, beautiful and deserves respect!
