Meghan Markle's Mom, Doria Ragland, Will Not Be Spending Christmas with the Royal Family After All

On Monday, December 17, PEOPLE magazine gave an update on Meghan Markle's mother's plans for the Christmas holiday. In spite of earliest reports, Doria Ragland will not spend the Christmas holiday with the royal family.

The media indicated that Queen Elizabeth had invited the 62-year-old Los Angeles-based yoga instructor and social worker to spend the holiday at Sandringham in Norfolk, England to be with the royal family.

Not Spending Christmas with Royal Family

It is a tradition that only members of the royal family will be with the Queen of England for Christmas. Therefore, the public thought it was a great gesture that Queen Elizabeth had invited Ragland to spend time with the royal family so she could be with her daughter, the newest member of the royal family.

However, Ragland is not leaving California to spend Christmas with Queen Elizabeth and the other royals after all. Ragland will spend the holiday in the house she inherited from her father in 2011.

Some are reporting that Doria Ragland is refusing to go to London. However, an invitation was never confirmed by Kensington Palace and neither were plans for the arrival of Meghan's mother. So, how can she refuse an invitation that was never given?

Not Moving to England to Live

Doria Ragland is not going to Sandringham to spend time with Queen Elizabeth and the royal family for Christmas. She is also not moving to live with the Duke and Duchess at Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle next year after they leave Kensington Palace, according to PEOPLE.

Doria may visit her daughter and son-in-law when they become parents in the Spring of 2019, but she is not going to make England her permanent home. Besides, Frogmore Cottage doesn't have ten rooms as reported. It has about half of the number. It currently is divided into five units to house the palace staff. Frogmore Cottage is in dire need of a major renovation before the Duke and Duchess can move there.

Never Confirmed

This will be Prince Harry and Meghan's first Christmas as husband and wife. It will also be their last Christmas as a family of two. Next year, they will have a child along with them.

It would have been an honor for Doria Ragland to have been invited by the Queen to spend Christmas with the royal family, but that was never confirmed.

Royal correspondent Victoria Murphy explained in a new interview with Yahoo UK‘s The Royal Box that it was reported that Ragland had been invited, but that invitation was never confirmed.

There is no reason to explain why Ragland isn't going because it seems that she was never invited in the first place.

About Doria Ragland

Doria Ragland has a great relationship with her daughter. She was the only relative at the royal wedding on May 19, 2018 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. She has visited only once since then. She visited to support her daughter when Meghan launched a cookbook as her first official project after she became the newest member of the royal family.

Ragland is excited about the news of having her first grandchild. She will more than likely visit shortly after the birth next spring. However, her visit will not be a permanent one.

It has been said that Ragland has taken an infant care refresher class so she can assist Meghan and Harry with the newborn.

Did you believe that Doria Ragland had been invited to be with the royal family this Christmas?

I have always thought it heartless that the in-laws never get to experience Christmas with their child and their family once they marry into The Royal family

I don't believe very much about the Royals unless I read it on their Website or it comes from Kensington Palace. I saw Doria Ragland was invited in late October or early part of November 2018. The Royal's Celebration starts on Christmas Eve in 5 days; I believe there are serious problems between the Royals and Meghan Markle!! The Queen wouldn't wait so late to have this announcement made!! PEACE & LOVE TO THE WORLD!!!

People get excited and misstate things. We can chalk this whole affair up to "fake news." That should make some laugh. But what's important is that everyone still has a positive relationship with each other.

Thanks for the well written article, clearing up the facts, Margaret.

      Great job as always.

      Sincerely,

      Tim
