Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was a fashionista long before she became a royal. She continued to be one even after her pregnancy was announced in October 2018 on the first day of the royal tour with Prince Harry.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex's maternity wardrobe has been estimated to have cost about $675,000 for the approximate 75 maternity outfits she has worn so far with just a few more weeks before her first child is born.

Every time she steps out into the public she is wearing expensive maternity outfits. The more than half a million dollars spent included one outfit that cost over $30,000.

The cost for her ensembles are for designer outfits, shoes, purses, and jewelry. The value of Meghan's outfits increases every time she wears expensive jewelry. Many pieces are borrowed to be worn on special occasions.

Meghan is not on her official maternity leave yet, but she is not scheduled to have any more public engagements until after her baby is born in a few weeks. If she is seen in public again on other occasions, the cost of her maternity wardrobe will increase even more.

Most Expensive Ensemble

The most expensive outfit Meghan wore during her pregnancy so far came during the early stage while she and Prince Harry were on their royal trip to Tonga in October 2018. The total cost of her look was $111,496 when she wore a white Theia dress costing $984, black clutch costing $1,969, shoes $741 and an expensive ring worth $98,420.

Often, a woman's purse costs much less than other items. In this case, the black clutch cost more than everything else except the ring.

Most Popular Maternity Outfit

The most popular maternity outfit was not the most expensive one. On December 10, 2018, the Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance onstage at the British Fashion Awards in the Royal Albert Hall.

Her total look cost $1,084 which was much lower than some of her other ensembles. She wore a Bespoke Givenchy designer dress, Tamara Mellon gold Karat sandals $468, Pippa Small bracelets costing $472, and Turquoise Mountain Foundation earrings $66.

Various Designers

Over the last eight months, the Duchess of Sussex's fashion choices have represented various designers. She rarely wears the same outfit more than once. That gives her more chances to wear new outfits from her favorite designers such as Givenchy and Victoria Beckham.

She has also worn many outfits designed by one of her best friends, Jessica Mulroney who designed the wedding gown that was seen by millions when she and Prince Harry got married on May 19, 2018, at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

What Average Pregnant Women Spend

The average pregnant woman spends only between $300 and $500 for maternity clothes. Many of them try not to spend much since they will not wear maternity clothes that often. Of course, those women aren't royal and are not watched every time they step out in public.

Meghan's expensive maternity wardrobe costs seven times more than those of her sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge. Kate Middleton has been pregnant three times with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The Duchess of Sussex showed off her growing baby bump during her tour of Fiji on October 23, 2018, when she attended a formal reception along with Prince Harry. Her complete look was worth an estimated $30,070. The SAFiYAA Ginkgo cape dress cost was $1,439. The Butani Diamond drop earrings she wore cost $28,024. Manolo Blahnik BB navy stilettos were $619.

Meghan tends to wear designer dresses and expensive jewelry for evening events. On her final day in Morocco on February 25, 2019, Meghan wore a blue printed custom made dress by Carolina Herrera that cost $2,959. Her Gianvito Rossi satin pumps were approximately $670. The Dior D-Bee Gold Satin Clutch cost $1827. Her jewelry raised the value of the outfit because her earrings cost $16,337, and the rings were $5,928.

Even though she often borrows expensive jewelry from the royal family, she is often photographed wearing earrings and bracelets by Canadian designer Pippa Small.

On March 11, 2019, the Duchess of Sussex wore a printed Victoria Beckham dress, cream coat, and a pillbox hat. The outfit was paired with dark green pumps and she carried a satin clutch. The ensemble was worth an estimated $16,023. Some say she was channeling Jackie O by wearing the pillbox hat.

Meghan has worn a lot of blue and black during her pregnancy, but she is pictured above in a bright red and purple ensemble that she wore on January 14, 2019, when she and Prince Harry visited Birkenhead.

Her entire outfit was worth a total of 4,463.19. Her Gabriela Hearst Demi bag cost the most at $1,982.58.

The only item that the expecting mother has worn several times is her Amanda Wakeley Sculpted Coa that retails at $1,172. She has worn that item on three different occasions during her pregnancy.

Meghan has been seen in her pumps in different colors from shoe brand Aquazzura. While she rarely repeats her outfits, she has been seen wearing the same shoes on several outings. When she wears long dresses, her shoes are not visible.
