Margaret Minnicks has been an online writer for many years. She is an ordained Bible teacher who shares a lot of teachings online.

Meghan Markle's mother Doria Ragland is going to London next month. It will not be a temporary visit. The 61-year-old former social worker plans to move to the United Kingdom to be closer to her daughter. She has a birthday coming up in September, and she plans to be there by then.

Doria Ragland, Meghan's Mother

Doria Ragland was the only member of Meghan's family who attended the royal wedding on May 19, 2018. She fell in love with the place while she was there for a short time when her daughter married Prince Harry.

The mother of the Duchess of Sussex is reportedly very excited about her upcoming move to be near to her daughter.

Ragland became a licensed clinical social worker after having received a master of social work degree from the University of Southern California in 2015. Even though she enjoyed her job as a social worker at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services in Culver City, California, she resigned from the clinic in May 2018.

Perhaps the seeds were planted then for the change of residence from Los Angeles, California to Great Britain. However, it has taken several months for Doria and Meghan to work out the details to make the move official.

According to a close friend of Doria, she has had a security guard since around November. That was before her daughter was married.

One of Doria's neighbors in Windsor Hills indicated that Doria and Meghan have always been very close. Both women are excited that they will be able to see each other more often after the move.

Relationship with Royal Family

When Doria was across the pond for her daughter's wedding, she established a good relationship with the Royal Family. While she was there, she met and had tea with Queen Elizabeth, according to the Express.

Doria has never spoken to the press about her daughter and her new royal husband. This cannot be said about Meghan's father and relatives on his side of the family.

Ragland’s ex-husband Thomas Markle and his older daughter Samantha Grant from a previous marriage have spoken to the press on several occasions. However, Doria has never publicly spoken out about her daughter’s royal journey.

Thomas Markle, Meghan's Father

The recent news about Thomas Markle isn't as pleasant. He is back in the news after saying on two other occasions that he would not speak to the press again. During the most recent interview, he confessed that he lied to Prince Harry when he was asked him if he had cooperated with a paparazzi. One of the photos showed him being fitted for a wedding suit. When Prince Harry warned him about speaking to the press, Markle said he hung up on Prince Harry.

The 74-year-old father is not expected to take the news that his ex-wife is moving to London to be closer to Meghan. He has been playing the victim, and he might not take the news well. He might feel like he is left out of Meghan's life again.

Meghan hasn't been communicating with her father because she fears he will speak to the press about their conversation.

Speaking to the Press

Prince Harry and Meghan don't want their friends speaking to the press about them. They recently set a strict rule that warns their friends that if they spoke to the media about them, they would be cut off from their inner circle.

The Duke and Duchess want to have some privacy as they adjust to their recent marriage. It has been reported that Prince Harry is the one who is protective of Meghan because he doesn't really care what the press says about him. He has been in the tabloids all his life, but he is being defensive of Meghan.

Edith, what a great idea. I am sure the two of you would get along just fine and have a good time together.
