Introduction

For hardcore fans of the Metal gear series this game will seem very different as Kojima takes a different route with the franchise.

Metal Gear games are known for their stealth action, long cutscenes, and a immerse storyline with the games protagonist, "snake."

This however is extremely different, and takes away the original protagonist snake and focuses more on the cyborg ninja, "Raiden."

Raiden is a powerful agile ninja with a electric razor sword (yeah sounds weird, but it's pretty cool).

The game has barely any stealth missions, and kind of fails to deliver that original Metal Gear atmosphere where your hiding and infiltrating.

The thing is though that this game is so fun I don;t know why anyone would even want to sneak, and avoid fights.

This is truly a different approach since the game was also developed by Platinum Games, and they really never disappoint.

Gameplay & Story

Gameplay is where the game is strongest. This isn't your usual "hack and slash" fighting game, and requires more than just button smashing like some other titles. Metal Gear Rising requires lots of skill, there are also situations where you have to avoid a fight since there are just to many enemies or your low on power. This is a very brutal and violent game also, and has lots of blood so I strongly suggest not letting little kids play. The game is kind of a challenge since you have to chain together combos, and can slow time for a few seconds to aim and hit your sword. The boss battles are very fun and music completely matches the setting almost everytime. Boss battles are not really hard depending on the difficulty I guess, but usually a parry is the main way to stop and hit. The story is briefly 5 hours or so long depending on the difficulty you play on, and not very immerse, but what really matters is just the plain fun and satisfying action.

Bladehound Boss Fight

You have to parry Bladehound when he charges at you, this is the only way to knock him and hit him.

Conclusion

I loved the game, and it is personally one of my favorite games. This is Raidens story and if your hopping for snake or stealth you wont see any. The sheer action and gameplay is enough to keep you playing again and again though. Of course the storyline isn't the best, and the stealth factor is almost completely gone this game is more than it seems. It seems at first this game did not have much potential, but a different approach actually worked for the franchise. If your a fan of the series then this game will not disappoint you, and you should get this game!
