Instructions for Making a Michael Jackson Cake

I thoroughly enjoyed making this Michael Jackson Cake so I wanted to share it on Hubpages.

Items you will need:

  • Round or Square cake frosted with Vanilla or white icing
  • Silver cookie sprinkles
  • Edible Silver Dragees
  • "Hand" shaped cookie cutter
  • Rolling pin
  • One bag of Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
  • One can of Vanilla Frosting
  • Pair of large wire frame sunglasses

You may choose to make a round or square cake of your own or you can buy a cake at your local bakery or supermarket. Whatever choice you make, the cake frosting should be Vanilla or white.

Follow the instructions on the Betty Crocker Sugar cookie mix to make the cookie batter. Prepare a flat surface with flour so you can roll the sugar cookie dough in the flour. Roll the dough with your rolling pin. Use the hand shaped cookie cutter to make hand shaped cookies. Be sure to make the cookies thin. If you use too much dough and make them too thick, the cookies expand while baking and become too big. Bake cookies in oven according to baking instructions. Remove from oven and place cookies on cooling rack.

After cookies have cooled, frost each cookie with the Vanilla frosting. Sprinkle the frosting on each cookie with silver cookie sprinkles and edible silver dragees.

Place wire frame sunglasses into center of cake. Gently/slightly press the sunglasses down on cake. Place six or seven cookies around the sunglasses on the cake. Gently/slightly press each cookie down into cake. Randomly place silver dragees around cookies on cake.

You will have extra dough and frosting to make additional hand cookies to represent Michael Jackson's trademark glitter glove.

I was able to purchase the "Hand" cookie cutter at A.C. Moore Craft store.

The silver dragees can be purchasing from most baking websites on line.

If you are a fan of Michael Jackson, this is a fun cake to make and it certainly was delicious to eat!

Thank you so much for the compliment! My nephew danced to Thriller at his school talent show so I created this as a surprise to reward him!
