DAGUL is his screen name. Born on October 5, 1958 in the city of Victorias, Negros Occidental and christened Romeo Pastrana, Dagul is a 53-year old Filipino midget actor, comedian and politician. Allegedly, he stands 91.44 cm or 3 feet tall. Others estimates he measures 2 feet or 60.96 cm in height. He is happily married and has fathered 3 normal children: John Rojen, 17, John Clief, 15, and John Jhero, 8. John Clief is shown carrying onto his shoulders his dad Dagul doing a television commercial of Purefoods Star Hotdog as product endorser.
Dagul's political image
During the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataang (SK) Elections of October 25, 2010, Dagul threw his hat into the political ring. Despite his height, he emerged the tallest among the barangay kagawad winners. He obtained the highest number of votes and is Number 1 kagawad of Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal. As such, he's eligible to discharge the official duties, functions and obligations of the barangay captain in the event he's incapacitated or has died.
Roles as entertainer
Aside from doing bit roles in movies such as Isprikitik, Walastik Kung Pumitik. Juan & Ted: Wanted- Chuck, Kool Ka Lang, Dagul became more visible on the TV limelight. He was a regular of the defunct sitcom 2003 OK Fine Whatever. Now he's the mainstay in the ABS-CBN kiddie Sunday children's gag called Goin' Bulilit.
Singer-host Randy Santiago was instrumental in convincing Dagul to join the movies in the 90's
The Little Man with a Big Heart
During the campaign period, Dagul dubbed himself “The Little Man With a Big Heart,” and came out very successful with his political platform of putting up daycare centers and deployment of more medical personnel in poor areas of their barangay.
"Sa mga bata, lagi kayong uminom ng vitamins at gatas, kumain ng gulay, matulog ng maaga, mag-aral ng mabuti at sumunod sa payo ng inyong mga magulang,” tugon ni Dagul. (To kids, always drink milk and take medicine, eat vegetable, sleep early, study well and obey your parents, said Dagul)

No bigger than a coke bottle
The youngest of 5 brothers, Weng Weng was born on September 7, 1957 in Baclaran, Paranaque, Rizal. He was named Ernesto de la Cruz, According to his brother Celing, Weng Weng was born with a condition called primordial dwarfism and no bigger than a coke bottle. Baby Weng Weng stayed 12 months in the incubator. Despite his condition, Weng Weng thrives. His parents declared it a miracle so they dressed him in Sto.Nino attire to join the yearly Baclaran’s Sto. Nino parade.
As a young man, Weng Weng was obsessed of and trained hard with martial arts. King of Philippine Comedy Dolphy hired him as sidekick in his film The Quick Brown Fox and western parody Da Best in Da West. Then president-to-be General Fidel V. Ramos made him an honorary secret agent complete with a badge and a 25-calibre pistol. Then Peter and Cora Caballes of Liliw Productions produced For Y’ur Height Only, a James Bond parody, giving Weng Weng his first starring role as Agent 00.
Poor as a rat.
According to his brother, the family remained poor as ever. This time General Ramos let Weng Weng undergo paratrooper training and sent on infiltration jobs with a real agent badge. In the mid 80’s he was a familiar sight in his blue uniform patrolling the arrival lounge of the Manila airport.
From riches to rags
Weng Weng became an instant superstar, appearing on TV and at parties, film festivals, movie openings. Thereafter, Liliw productions produced less successful Agent 00 sequel, like The Impossible Kid and D’Wild Wild Weng. As business dwindled, Liliw Productions closed its doors. Weng Weng found himself jobless.
According to reports, Weng Weng took to drinking liquor, had hypertension due to eating crabmeat. His health declined greatly through the months and on the 29th day of Aug. 1992, just 9 days shy of his 35th birthday, Weng Weng succumbed to heart failure. Weng Weng- the 2 feet and 9 inches tall dwarf actor was buried in the cemetery of Pasay City.
