The Early Life of Miles Teller
Miles Alexander Teller was born on February 20, 1987 in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Miles is the son of Merry Teller, who is a real estate agent, and Mike Teller, who is a nuclear plant engineer. Miles has two older sisters in his family.
Due to Teller's father's career, his family moved around a lot when he was a child. Miles lived not only in Pennsylvania but also in Citrus County, Florida and Cape May, New Jersey.
Miles was a band geek when he was in high school playing the saxophone and drumming for a local church youth group band. Miles was also a big part of his high school's drama club. Teller graduated in 2005 from Lecanto High School.
After high school Miles attended college at the New York University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts.
Trying to Hit the Big Time
Miles was a short film star long before he made his debut in any big screen movies. Teller appeared in "Moonlighters", "A Very Specific Recipe", "The Musicians", "The Unusuals" and "The Track Meet" before finally making his film debut in "Rabbit Hole" starring opposite of Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart.
"Rabbit Hole" was a low budget film that only made a little over $5 million dollars at the box office. However, Teller's role in "Rabbit Hole" gained him some recognition which allowed him to be cast in his next film the remake of "Footloose" as Willard Hewitt. "Footloose" grossed $62 million dollars at the box office.
Breaking Through Piece by Piece
Slowly Teller began appearing in more movies following the small success of "Footloose." Teller was cast in "21 & Over" and "The Spectacular Now" in 2012 and the films were released in 2013. Miles starred opposite of Shailene Woodley in the movie "The Spectacular Now." His performance in "The Spectacular Now" earned Teller the "Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting" at the Sundance Festival in 2013.
Soon Miles was starring in "That Awkward Moment" with Zac Efron and showing up next to Shailene Woodley again in the "Divergent" movies. Miles has many movies in the making that are ready to be released or have recently been released. Fans can catch Teller in the follow up "Divergent" movies reprising his role of Peter. Fans can also see Teller in "The Fantastic Four" reboot, "Two Night Stand", "Get A Job", and "Whiplash."
