Modern Screen Sirens (1940--Present, Part III)
Modern Screen Sirens
This photographic list is a continuation of the first parts, and (like them are presented) in no order. The only requirement I had for including anyone in my list was that they sparked something a bit unearthly -- either through their obvious beauty or by their mannerisms, acting ability, or anything else that seemed to separate them from the herd. I haven't seen every film ever made, so I am open for cordial reminders of certain lapses
Today's actresses are not treated in the same, worshipful way as their predecessors. No one has seen a halo over any of their heads, but that hardly lessened the stares of men around them, I'm sure. They represent our modern-day goddesses, but they don't quite get the same regal treatment from studio photographers (or anyone else). Nonetheless, I find this grouping pleasing, interesting and somehow beguiling. You may disagree, and that's okay. No two people are bound to have the exact same tastes and viewpoints about anything. If you see one of your favorite screen gals missing from this list, let me know. I just may add them to the roster.
Selecting an appropriate photograph for each celebrity was difficult. I wanted to capture something about their essence -- even if the photo wasn't particularly flattering. I disregarded time entirely. I picked the faces when they appeared to be at their peak. And why not?
I discovered so many worthy participants that I had to break things into two pieces -- to work within HubPages limitations.
Apologies for not having the list alphabetized, but the end result of mixing proved to be rather interesting.
Like my glamour girls of the 30s-40s, I purposely tried to choose a pic that caught them in their prime. Why not capture them at their peak of loveliness?
With a few exceptions, the list is dedicated to movie stars rather than TV stars -- although I'm sure there are many in that field who are certainly qualified. I just do not watch TV anymore, so I cannot make any judgments.
