Mollie King's Early Career 2004-2007

Mollie originally had no plans to get involved in the entertainment industry. She had a dream of making it big as a professional skier. Fortunately for her, she was so athletically skilled that she was chosen for the junior ski team in the UK. She followed up this first big success and received a scholarship for the national Ski Academy. Whether it was because of coincidence, fate, or just wanting a change, Mollie gave up the idea of being a professional skier to try her luck in the entertainment business. She says that she gave up skiing when she was 17, adding that “It was hard to give up because I was training at an Olympic level and doing well. It was a big risk. But thank God it paid off,” (Hello! n.d.). However, she did not experience success at first. She was on the singing show called the X-Factor on two different occasions. Her first appearance was as a solo singer and her second appearance on the show with a girl group called Fallen Angelz.

Mollie King Becomes a Member of The Saturdays

Success can sometimes take a while to materialize and for Mollie, her first big break came in 2007 when she became part of the girl group The Saturdays with Frankie Bridge, Vanessa White, Rochelle Humes, and Irishwoman Una Healy who is the oldest member of that group.

What Makes Mollie King Talented and Unique?

Mollie also has the ability to play guitar like Healy can do. In addition to her sports skills, Mollie is said to have qualifications in psychology, business, and economics. She has these qualifications despite being affected by the learning disability of dyslexia. That’s one way that Mollie King is a unique celebrity.

Mollie has been known and considered the “posh smiley one” of the five girls and because of this, her former bandmate Frankie gave her the nickname of Miss Disney.

Mollie King's Relationships and Appearances on Strictly Come Dancing

She is friends with Prince Harry. There was a rumor going around that she and Harry were dating but Mollie King dismissed that idea. Mollie has had a few relationships so far. The couple reunited in 2015 but broke up again in 2016.

About Her Two Solo Singles and Their Significance

Mollie has released two solo singles. They are Back to You in 2016 and Hair Down in 2017. Back to You is a relationship song and this is significant because Mollie herself has said that even though she loved the work that she did as a member of The Saturdays, she would like to get married and have a family of her own one day.

The song is about a woman that wonders why she keeps on getting back with the same person. She wonders why he does not feel the same way that she does. She keeps on falling for him but the relationship is in a cycle of romance and breakup, romance and breakup and the cycle repeats itself. Relationships can be painful and difficult when one of the people does not reciprocate the feelings. Most of us have been involved in this type of romance. Hair Down is a song about a woman that plays like she is tough to get and she wants to just let her hair down and dance.

She (the person described in the song) is living her life like it is “heaven sent.” There is a soccer reference in the song when she refers to using a striker for the second half so that she can win the game and be considered on top of the world. For this former skier, this sports reference is not a surprise at all.
