Can Girls and Boys Make It As Hip Hop Stars? Are Children Rappers Becoming Popular?

Updated on September 22, 2012

I see more and more children becoming hip hop stars.

It seems that little girls and boys are getting into music thanks to sites like YouTube and Vimmeo.

The newest Hip Hop Sensation: Lils Cupcake

Being a musician who promotes my own music on YouTube, I search YouTube for some great videos that inspire me and for ideas in my own music videos. Now more than ever, I see more videos of children performing rap and hip hop.

I wonder how many parents find this acceptable, but also who finds it unacceptable. I approve as long as the lyrics are clean and then videos do not promote violence, as some hip hop videos do.

The YouTube video I added here is about getting on a school bus and picking a seat on the way to school. That's downright cute. Plus, the star of this video, Lil Cupcake has a nice dance on the street and is just standing around being cute in a Hello Kitty shirt with the word peace. That's fine.

I get some ideas from children and adults alike about my music video and I just learned how to create my own music videos instead of paying thousands of dollars to a professional company. I am the professional video guy now, or at least for my own music videos. You can see some videos of my band in my other hubs.

What do you think of Lil' Cupcake?

Thanks. Yes, the lyrics are about a seat on a school bus and not some gang. LOL
