Movie Recommendations: You Must See This! Movie One:

Movie One!

Labyrinth is a film that I rate as a timeless classic. I remember growing up with it as a kid. The thing about that is I didn’t understand it until I watched it again in my late 20s. That was when I appreciated it even more. I also learned more about David Bowie’s music being as he plays Jareth in the film. He was very intimidating and at that time, I thought he looked exceptionally hot as Jareth.

The music in Labyrinth portrays a particularly sci-fi/fantasy work of genius. The score fits perfectly in the storyline and the fantasy faerie tale look of it.

The Plot

Sarah (Jennifer Connelly), a young teenage girl is left at home by her parents to take care of her baby brother, Toby. Sarah is a lover of literature and would rather live a theatrical life instead of having her life interrupted with looking after her bother. One night, her brother, Toby is taken by the Goblin King, Jareth (Bowie). Jareth instructs her to go through the labyrinth he has created if she wants to see her brother again.

Jim Henson’s characters are epic and memorable. If you’ve gotten the privilege to see this legendary film then you know exactly what I mean. If you have never seen this film, you will be shocked by all the mystical excitement you’ve missed when you

The Never Ending Story is another excellent one. The first one is the best, of course. Jim Henson obviously knew what he was doing, and he left behind a legacy that will never die. David Bowie was brilliant. He's got an amazing singing voice which added to the character he portrayed. It's also fantastic that your family has shared in this epic. It will live on forever. Thanks for your comment, Jodah.

Labyrinth is one of my (and my children's) all time favourite fantasy movies. In fact my son just hired it out for his kids to watch yesterday. We watched it about the same time as Never Ending Story and I felt Labyrinth was the best of the two. David Bowie is very creepy but excellent in it.
