CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS the movie is a funny movie! Based on the book Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie is ridiculous, absurd and at times hysterically funny. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie is a movie that can make you laugh out loud for some movie scenes and that level of comedy is a very good thing. This movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs will make a child smile, laugh and feel happy and will stir up good feelings for the parent watching the movie with the child as well.

• With this movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, you don’t have to tell your little kid, “Listen, this is just a movie, okay. This stuff can never happen in real life.” as you might have to lecture them for other movies that seem to have so much realism to them, difficult for a child to process.
• With this movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, even a very young child under five years old might realize that the plot of this movie is absolutely absurd and fantastical, total and complete fiction. The absurdity makes Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie so funny!

Now for the plot of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, the story centers around the movie characters Flint and Sam who by the end of the movie comprise a couple that has fallen in love. Even with the children’s movies, there is very often a romantic love story that becomes a focus in the film.

• In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, the character Flint is a quirky inventor with a studious personality shaped from since early childhood.
• In the movie, sadly, Flint gets teased and bullied for his enthusiasm about his inventions that are often a ‘work in progress’.
• One such example of one of Flint's inventions is spray on shoes to solve the problem of constantly untied shoe lacings.
• Unfortunately, when Flint tried to demonstrate the use of spray on shoes, he was unable to take them off.
• In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, other kids wanted to make Flint feel like even though he might think that he is smart, he can’t be that smart if his inventions often fail and he has to take them back to the drawing board.

In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, during early childhood and the formative years of early elementary school, Flint’s mother is his biggest supporter and cheerleader when he needs a confidence boost.

She gives the little boy Flint great pep talks when he comes home from school sad and feeling like a failure. She gives him a lab coat as a gift and this encourages him greatly.

Fast forward to Flint’s adulthood in the movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. When he is in his presumed early twenties, it is revealed that sadly, his mom passed away ten years prior. Flint misses her greatly and so does his father who owns and operates a fishing tackle shop.

Flint’s father seems absorbed in his work and encourages Flint to join him working at the tackle shop. Flint does not want to spend his time working at the tackle shop and he implores his father to not lose faith in what Flint might be capable of with his inventions.

In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, the small town that Flint lives in has fallen on hard times and canned sardines have become the most affordable and frequently eaten food for everyone in the town.

• In the movie, Flint believes that he can mitigate the food shortage by inventing a machine that produces food.
• The elaborate machine that Flint invents is transported to the sky where it takes the water molecules from clouds and converts the molecular components into food!
• Water goes in and food comes out.
• With a made to order menu of sorts, any food requested can be prepared.

In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, before we know it, food is falling from the sky and everyone in the town is gasping at the sight. Cheeseburgers anyone? Since the food is coming from the sky, it is considered to be a weather pattern – food weather!

In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, a ditsy weather girl that the main character Flint encounters decides to get someone to grab a camera and cover the story.

In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, As Flint gets better acquainted with the weather girl named Sam, he realizes that she is quite an intellectual and for some strange reason, she only pretends to be a bit vacuous.

Although Sam is trying to hide her high level of intellect, Flint is very attracted to Sam’s scientific brain. He first appears to fall for her when he talks to her about his spray on shoes and she is very impressed, saying that the spray on shoes can help to solve the untied shoe lacings “epidemic”. Ha! Flint also learns that Sam loves Jello and later tries to impress her with a gigantic space where everything is made of Jello.

At first, Sam glances at the exit sign like she needs to get out of there but then she dives right in to play in the Jello joyfully with Flint and eat some of the Jello too. Flint and Sam later sit down to have further conversation and he asks her “Why do you do that?” She asks him “what?” and he speaks on his observation of her pretending to be unintelligent when she is in fact brilliant.

Here, Sam opens up to Flint and shows her vulnerability by sharing stories of her own childhood, when she was teased for being a “nerd”. When Sam started playing dumb instead of showing that she was bright, she became more popular and was never teased again.

1. Flint then encourages Sam to be her authentic self.
2. He makes a ponytail holder/ scrunchie for her hair (made out of Jello!) and helps her to put her hair in a ponytail.
3. Sam shows Flint her glasses that she typically refuses to wear even though she needs the glasses and he gently helps her to affix the glasses on to her face.
4. Flint compliments Sam, saying that she was okay before but now she is “beautiful”!
5. Flint and Sam really begin to recognize how much they have in common. Playing in all of that Jello might have been their first date of sorts as they continue to spend lots of time together throughout the film, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

• In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, there is another occasion where a town police officer convinces Flint to provide an ice cream snow day for the birthday of the police officer’s son.
• Flint does not want to overwork the food making machine but he is convinced by the police officer to create a wonderland of ice cream that everyone frolicks in, including Flint and Sam.
• Flint is encouraged to participate in a snow ball fight but he has never been in a snow ball fight before and he does not know “the rules”. It's a funny moment.
• After learning how to go about it, Flint hits everybody way too hard with the (ice cream) snow.
• In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, the (ice cream) snow day is another example of a fun time for Flint and Sam together, but there is not much time for romancing until the very end of the movie when Flint and Sam finally share a kiss.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie is full of action packed adventure as the food making machine in the sky (that first impressed everyone and filled their bellies with food) eventually spirals out of control and wreaks havoc including a tornado of spaghetti and meatballs!

Some of the people who are now able to eat so much food become seriously obese, especially the town’s now overly obese mayor who at one point programs the machine to send an all you can eat buffet from the sky!

When Flint asks the mayor, “What did you order?!” and the mayor tells him “an all you can eat buffet”, a terrified look comes across Flint’s face.

Flint realizes that what the mayor has ordered will have dire consequences for the community in the town. By this time, the town includes lots of tourists from all around the world since the town has become a tourist attraction for its food making machine.

In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, a big adventure ensues for Flint to pull the “kill” switch and disable to food making machine before it is too late. This can be the end of the world! The food has begun to mutate and the pieces of food falling from the sky are larger than ever including massive watermelons, gigantic corn on the cob, and more. Imagine what the all you can eat buffet might do. Everyone is in a panic.

Flint had become so popular and loved, treated like a rockstar for his invention of the machine but now everyone was blaming him and wanting to attack him. His father had tried to warn him that the food making machine might not be good for people and that it should be turned off but the town mayor had encouraged him to keep the food machine turned on, saying that even if Flint had one family member’s disapproval (his Dad’s), he would have the adoration of so many acquaintances. Well now, with things spinning out of control, the food machine would definitely have to be turned off, but how? Lots of action packed adventure ensues in the animated film Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

• Before Flint is moved into real action to get the food machine turned off, he again becomes discouraged that he is a failure and it is his father that offers him a pep talk in his own way.
• His father's choice of words is not as encouraging as Flint’s mother’s talks had been in the past but he tries and he even brings Flint the lab coat that had once been a gift from Flint’s mother.
• Flint is spurred into action and starts to work at developing what is needed to stop the chaos, including a flying car to get to the machine in the sky.

Later on in the movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, the same police man’s son that had been given the ice cream snow day for his birthday goes into a food coma from too much sugar. The little boy is carried in the police man’s arms and Sam exclaims that he needs a doctor.

Sam looks around asking if anyone around is a doctor and a guy in a pizza delivery uniform steps up. She says, “You’re a doctor?” and he says that he was in his native country, Guatemala. He says that he came here for a better life. This might be a somewhat insensitive but still funny and pertinent joke about how much of a struggle it can be to find fulfilling work in a place where the native language is different from your own, just among the many obstacles that can be faced.

The short and diminutive pizza delivery guy/ doctor character’s name is Manny. He says that he needs some celery “stat”. Someone hands him the celery and he holds it under the unconscious child’s nose. The child is instantly revived. This scene is hilarious!

Later in Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, Manny steps up again when Flint and Sam are about to go in the flying car. Manny offers his services as a pilot. They say, “You are a pilot too?!” and he says yes! Ha! Manny and another character in the movie, (once a child star that wants to “contribute more to society” now that he is an adult and wants to find out “who [he] really [is]”) both accompany Flint and Sam in the flying car that is now just about filled to capacity.

When the former child star asks what he can do to help, Flint says that he can be “Captain of the back seat”, another funny line in Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie but this former child star ends up helping in many more ways as the action and adventure continue.

He even helps to save Sam when she has a bout with her severe peanut allergy after getting stuck with peanut brittle. He is able to get her back to Manny who then shows his true doctor skills.

Oh, so much adventure! By the end of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs the movie, we are led to believe that Flint might have met his demise while trying to save everyone in the town community and the world at large but does he really or does he survive?
