Married Since The '90s

Carrie-Anne Moss (since 1999)

Carrie-Anne Moss is perhaps best known for her role as Trinity in The Matrix and its two sequels (The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions). Ms. Moss married actor Steven Roy in 1999, a few months after The Matrix was released. She and her husband have had three children.

Cate Blanchett (since 1997)

Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton did not like each other when they first met. A year later, though, they hit it off during a game of poker. Upton proposed to Blanchett three weeks later, and they married soon afterward. Blanchett would go on to say later that her marriage was all about good timing: "I think [my husband and I] collided with each other at what turned out to be the perfect time."

Hugh Jackman (since 1996)

Hugh Jackman starred opposite of his wife-to-be, Deborra Lee-Furness, in an Australian TV drama immediately after he graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. The show only lasted one season in 1995, but by the following year, he was married to his former co-star. They have adopted two children during the course of their marriage.

Steve Carell (since 1995)

Funnyman Steve Carell met his wife, Nancy, when he was teaching an improv class with The Second City, a well-known comedy troupe based in Chicago, IL. The two married in 1995 and have had two children. Interestingly, Steve and Nancy worked together on the TV series The Office, where Steve starred for seven seasons as the eccentric and insecure boss, Michael Scott. Nancy played Michael Scott's realtor-turned-girlfriend in several episodes.

Lisa Kudrow (since 1995)

Lisa Kudrow is best known for her work on the long-running television show, Friends, but she has also starred in movies, including Romy and Michele's High School Reunion in 1997, and Analyze This in 1999. Ms. Kudrow married Michel Stern, an advertising executive, in May of 1995. The couple has one child. Glamour.com magazine quotes Kudrow regarding her marriage, saying, "When [Michel and I] decided to get married, we understood: We're not promising to love each other forever, because you can't do that, but we are promising to work on whatever problems come up. We're committed to our marriage working. It turns out, after you have a history, there's such a bond, and love takes another shape."

Elisabeth Shue (since 1994)

Elisabeth Shue had already had some major film roles when she met Davis Guggenheim, who was just starting out as a director, in 1989. The couple married five years later. They are still together after 18 years and have three children.

Married Since The '80s

Lea Thompson (1989)

When director Howard Deutch offered Lea Thompson a role in his movie, Some Kind Of Wonderful, she initially refused the offer. He made the offer again (via Eric Stoltz, the leading man in the movie). She reconsidered, and eventually accepted the role. During filming, the two fell in love, and they married in 1989. Now, 23 years later, they are still married and have two children.

Kevin Bacon (1988)

Kevin Bacon met movie and television actress Kyra Sedgwick when they filmed an episode together for the seventh season of the television series American Playhouse. The couple married soon afterward and now have two children.

Jamie Lee Curtis/Christopher Guest (since 1984)

Jamie Lee Curtis saw Christopher Guest in a promotional photo for the 1984 movie This Is Spinal Tap in a Rolling Stone magazine. She was interested, so she gave her phone number to his agent. It must've worked out for them, because they married in December of 1984 and later adopted two children. Fun fact: Christopher Guest and Jamie Lee Curtis are formally known as the Baron and Baroness Haden-Guest of Saling in the County of Essex; Christopher Guest inherited the barony in 1996.

Sigourney Weaver (since 1984)

Sigourney Weaver met her husband-to-be, Jim Simpson, in 1983, after she had already acted in her breakthrough role in the movie Alien. The couple married in 1984. Since then, Ms. Weaver has enjoyed continued success in film acting, while Mr. Simpson continues to direct. The pair even collaborated in the 2002 movie The Guys. They have one child.

Denzel Washington (since 1983)

Denzel Washington met his wife Pauletta while they were both acting in the 1977 movie, Wilma. They married in 1983 and now have four children (including one set of twins).

Gary Sinise (since 1981)

Gary Sinise was a founding member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago in 1974. His wife-to-be, Moira, was an original ensemble member. The two married in 1981 and have three children.

Married Before The '80s

Meryl Streep (since 1978)

According to this article, Meryl Streep met her future husband, Don Gummer, by accident; Mr. Gummer was her brother's friend, and Ms. Streep was staying at Mr. Gummer's apartment while he was out of the country. He came back to the country earlier than expected, and the two fell in love. The article speculates that having an "ordinary" person as a spouse may help add longevity to a celebrity's marriage. That may or may not be the case in general, but it certainly hasn't hurt for these two, who have been married since 1978.

Christopher Walken (since 1969)

Christopher Walken has been married to his wife, Georgianne, since 1969. Ms. Walken is a casting director, and the pair met in 1963 when they were both part of a theater production of the musical, West Side Story. The couple has been married since 1969.

James Stewart (1949-1994)

James Stewart married his wife, Gloria, in 1949, after his acting career had already started to take off. The Stewarts remained married for almost 45 years, until Gloria's death in 1994.

Charlton Heston (1944-2008)
