Musical Inspiration

Updated on May 31, 2010

Great Music Talent

Stevie Wonder is one of my favorite artist. He has the ability to incorporate current events into his music. This skill is also present in the musical genius of Lauryn Hill and Gill Scott Heron. These artist have the ability to capture your attention without the need for vulgarity. Vulgarity has become normal in the music industry. However, what I find interesting is that it is only in certain groups. If this happen in other groups they, in concert move to have the vulgarity removed. if you notice there is only one emiemn or Kid rock. The dominant community has fought continuoulsy to keep what was once  classifed as jungle music out of there community. Once, the public broadcasting system would not allow vulgar music of any type by any artist on the air waves. At least thats what they would lead you to believe. They completely overlook the lyrics of Jailhouse rock or Great Balls Of Fire by Elvis Presley and Jerry lee Lewis respectively.  Fortnunately, a new artist Donnie raised in Atlanta Georgia and born in Lexington Kentucky is helping to change the atmosphere of music. This young man has his roots in Gospel music and gravitating in the direction of R&B. He follows in the footsteps of some greats. Areatha Franklin, Marivin Gaye and I would venture to include legendary writer producer Curtis Mayfleld. I am extremely impressed with is hit Cloud nine. Any Southern born person can readily identify with the colored section this is emblazon in the minds from the Civil Rights era. The very fact that this artist decided to use this indicates the depth of were his music my go.

Music that Inspires.

This is It

I, also, agree with you 100%. I really dislike vulgarity in music and believe that it does not belong in music. There is vulgarity everywhere nowadays - why does it also have to be in music. Stevie is one of my favorites also!

I appreciate your comment. I beleive vulgar music is the equivalent to dumping someone elses garbage in your living room.
