Akame ga Kill!

Genre: Action, Adventure, and Fantasy

Anime Summary: In a world where monsters exists, the worst kinds of beasts would be those ones clad in the guise of humans. Corruption, desolation, darkness, and evil - these exists in the hearts of all tainted creatures and beings. And blending those all into unison, it forms a society of unimaginable brutality and corruption!

Tatsumi is one of those clueless adventurers who knows nothing of the world. On the quest of bringing prosperity to his hometown, he sets out to make a name by joining the military ranks in the capital city. But, in a fit of misfortune, what awaits him there is his incorrigible eye-awakening to the darkness of the world.

Then and there, after he witnessed the evils of the society, he is recruited by the assassin group, Night Raid, whose purpose is to rid the world of darkness and eliminate the scums of humanity.

Why it's a Must-Watch: Out of all the new anime series this season, Akame ga Kill is one of the most-anticipated shows to see. It has a potential that rivals many great series. In terms of action and thrill - it's heavily jump-packed! And the plot possesses seriousness that reflects the truths of the world. The series is also quite bloody and gore-y at most parts, but that's included in the overall serious package. Then, the characterization is also superb that you'll be seeing yourself looking out for them while the series goes through. In totality, Akame ga Kill, with all its surrealism and engaging story-line is one of the best anime to look out for and hold on to with the excitement this season.

Genre: Action, Mecha, and Sci-Fi

Anime Summary: In a certain age, humans have lived divided into two major groups - those who lives on Earth (Terrans), and those who lives on Mars (the Martians). For reasons still shrouded in the mystery of the dark past, the Terrans and Martians aren't exactly in good terms. And so, on a special day on Earth, a princess of Mars lands on Earth for a inter-world peace treaty for both sides. But, the unexpected happens! A group of unknown people tries to assassinate the princess on the day of her peace caravan. This results to the fueling of the Martian's aggression towards the Terrans.

Now, the Martians sets forth to conquer Earth and the whole of the terrans as they stop at nothing to fully realize their goals. Using technology (Aldnoah) that is more advanced than any known technology, the Martians begins their deadly siege on the major cities of Earth.

Why it's a Must-Watch: At first, I was very reluctant to watch this anime because I though it was just another mecha anime in the list. But then, I decided to give it a go! And boy, was I left stunned! Aldnoah.Zero possesses a high degree of potential on plot and action. Plus, the visuals and soundtrack are so good that the story-line of this anime works in perfect sync. Then, there's also the thrill and suspense that will keep you on-the-edge-of-your-seat for the next episode. Aldnoah.Zero had a great start so I think that it indeed has the potential to be grander as the story goes on, and snag a place on the best anime of Summer 2014.
