My Big Fat Greek Wedding tells the witty story of a 30 year old Fotoula Portokalos known mainly throughout the film as Toula. She is going through a midlife crisis and fears that the bad luck that hovered over her as a child is doing so as an adult. In the beginning of the film Toula displays a character of that she feel as if she has not quite measured up to the other fully Greek women in her family. In contrast, her sister the 33 year old Athena is seen as the typical Greek girl, because she married a Greek guy, had Greek babies, and feeds everyone. It was a struggle for Toula to exit out of the frumpy and stale personality and life at her family restaurant where she has a brief and embarrassing encounter with Ian for the first time. Her father is seen to be a very strict Greek father, but after some convincing from his wife he allows Toula to take computer classes at the local college. Afterwards, Toula begins to wear contact lenses, style her hair, and wear make-up. This in turn causes her to have confidence, higher self-esteem, and improves her mood. Eventually, Toula takes her skills and applies them at her aunt Voula's traveling agency ditching the family restaurant. As time goes on Toula and Ian meet once more and indirectly introduce themselves, and began going out more. Toula initially keeps this from her family, but ultimately tells someone and because of the tightknit Greek American community the news makes it to her father. Her father throws a comedic fit because Ian is not Greek, and demands Toula to stop seeing Ian.

Ultimately, Toula and Ian overcome the shock of Ian not being Greek, and the two get married and have a daughter they send to Greek school with the understanding that she can married whoever she chooses.

In the sequel, Toula and Ian difficult teenage daughter is the center of their attention. All is not well within their household as Toula and Ian are having marital difficulties, and to top it off they are planning another Greek wedding.

Do you think Toula and Ian will overcome their martial difficulties in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2?

Conclusion

To sum it all up, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is awaited my many who favored the first film. And to understand how far Toula and Ian have come within the Greek community, and so you can witness her father antics for yourself (put some Windex on it.) My Big Fat Greek Wedding should be seen. Even if you are not a fan of romantic comedies this film is so well written you will forget its genre. This film is funny and clever and people have been asking for the sequel.
