My Personal History With Britney

Anyone who knows anything about me knows that I LOVE BRITNEY SPEARS and have loved her since the first time I heard "...Baby One More Time" in 1999. I am a dedicated and loyal fan. Britney and I have been through a lot together over the years...both good and bad.

I temporary left Britney Spears around 2002/2003 when I felt she had become too sexual. A.K.A. - "I'm a Slave 4 U". Not surprisingly, I secretly loved the 3rd album debut of Britney, purchased the album, and then gave it away to my brother. In 2011, I searched, found, stole and cleaned that copy of Britney. It had it's rough times so I ended up purchasing another copy...keeping my battered copy for "memories".

I feel in love with Britney again with the release of "Womanizer"...I could not hold back any longer! (Would you hold it against me?)

A Quick Review of Femme Fatale Deluxe Edition

Title of the Song
Should it be a single?
My comments
1 - Till The World Ends
Yes! (Actual 2nd single)
Has some awesome sound effects and such. It is pretty catchy and so it is worthy of being a single, but it is certainly not the best track on the CD. However, I find that each time I listen to it I like it more and MORE!
2 - Hold It Against Me
Yes! (Actual 1st single)
I LOVE THIS SONG! It is catchy and has really fun lyrics. I think there are other tracks on the CD that have better lyrics but the combination of music and lyrics are just perfect for Britney's voice and style.
3 - Inside Out
There are obvious reasons that this should be a single. This song is sassy and makes you just want to do a little slow and dirty dancing. It would be great for clubbing for a nice semi-slow song. I also like the melody, lyrics, and the rythmic variations. This is dance/pop music at its best and Britney's vocals are just perfect. I love when she sings, "So come on!" I will be highly disappointed if this does not make the cut.
4 - I Wanna Go
Yes! (Actual 3rd single)
I can see this being very popular especially when it comes to radio play time. Clubs will love it as well.
5 - How I Roll
This is really probably the stupidest song on the CD. I like it though, but I would not want it be a single and think it would be not only a disappointment but a wrong move for Britney's hot career. Of course, Britney can get away with just about anything, but let's not go there! Also, the lyrics are horrible and are not creative at all.
6 - (Drop Dead) Beautiful
This song has potiencial as a single, but it is not lyrically or musical interesting enough for me to enjoy it more then when I play through the entire CD. (Which I do all the time.) This song does crack me up a little.
7 - Seal it with a Kiss
The lyrics are a little repetitious and the music and rhythms are not as interesting as other tracks on the CD. However, let us not forget the Justin Bieber's "Baby" was very repetitious and became a hit. This is not a hit though. I like some of the "Oo, oo, oo, oo"s though!
8 - Big Fat Bass
Yes and No
The simple fact is William is a very popular digital songwriter and performer right now. Black Eyed Peas are popular, but they really have little talent whatsoever when it comes to writing music. But they so know how to make cool sounds, beats, and other elements that make it fun to listen to. Remember, "Boom Boom Pow". HUGE hit and so this has potiencial and I do like the concept of "I can be the treble and you can be my bass." It's musical interesting to incorporate music theory into lyrics. This song is definately different and so it could stick out on the radio I do believe.
9 - Trouble for Me
This is a fill in track. It's good, but not a hit single. You can tell by just listening to it. It does have a cool underlying bass sound during spots in the song.
10 - Trip to Your Heart
It's lovely but lyrically and musically boring.
11 - Gasoline
Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!!
This is one of my favorite tracks on the CD, but I can understand if they do not use it. To me, I love the concept of gasoline and how Britney can only operate on "Supreme". I love the Rule/Power of three that is used in this song. (You will have to read my Part 1 blog on Justin Bieber to learn about my study on the number three in music and how it can create musical hits!) "You set me on fire." is such a strong lyric and the music is awesome. If I had to choice one song other than Hold it Against Me I would choose this one!!
12 - Criminal
No (Actual 4th single)
The beginning "flute" opening is a turn off for me. The track was featured on the sticker when I purchased the album so that gave me the idea it would become a single. The melody is simple and too original and quite boring. It is growing on me though and the Radio Edition is actually an improvement.
13 - Up 'N Down
This has potiencial. It has a strong opening statement and the lyrics are simple and catchy. The beat is also great and very pleasurable for listening and dancing. Also, some of the rhythms and feels set the mood just right.
14 - He About to Lose Me
Not your typical Britney song. It feels very foreign to hear her in this type of single. Thankfully the little guitar like beginning is covered up more by bass and other effects later. Not a great song overall and slightly annoying.
15 - Selfish
I like it a lot, but it is not hit material. I like it lyrically though: "Boom boom boom pick you up in my Mercedes." HA HA!
16 - Don't Keep Me Waiting
This feels strange to me too for Britney. I almost feel like Kelly Clarkson should be singing this instead. Very rock-like and not the pop for what Britney is so wonderfully well known for. It's hard for someone like her to switch to something like this and it be accepted. Good song though. Nice change of pace.
