My Little Pony was a huge hit back in the 1980's. Thanks to the miracle of DVDs, it is now possible to let your children experience the same cartoon experience that you yourself probably did when you were their age. My Little Pony has been out on DVD for a while now, and you can easily pick up a copy on the internet. I would recommend that you always do your shopping on the internet, simply because you are able to do it for a much cheaper price, and you will always be able to do it for much easier than you would be able to if you had gotten in your car, driven to the mall, and tried to find a My Little Pony DVD. Believe me, I have tried to find many different kinds of DVDs and such in retail stores, and it cannot always be easily done. I think that the reason that I advocate shopping online so much is that I have hardly ever had a bad experience, and I usually find what I want to get very quickly, whether it is a My Little Pony DVD for my niece, or cheap hamster cages.

I am sure that you are probably wondering why I am plugging My Little Pony. After all, I am a male college student, and I probably belong to the demographic that is probably the least likely to buy something like a My Little Pony DVD. Well, you would be right, and normally I would probably never buy something like this on my own. But I have a niece, and recently her birthday was soon coming up, and I was desperate for a gift idea. Are you the same way? I am the kind of person who hardly ever shops before the last minute, and my niece's birthday was no exception to the rule. I usually just go to the store the night before I am supposed to get a present for something else. I was going to do the same thing this time, but my brother had called me a couple nights before. He told me that my niece's birthday was coming up. I told him I was aware of that, and I was not concerned about rushing to buy presents, since I figured that I had plenty of time, seeing as to how my niece's birthday was more than two weeks away. I have waited till Christmas Eve to go shopping before, so this was no big deal!

Well, there was a flaw in my little plan. You see, my brother told me that my niece is very very picky when it comes to presents. Uh oh. I knew  that I had better start shopping quickly for my niece, so that I would not have to worry about running out of time. I asked my brother if there was anything that I should keep in mind to try to get for her. "As a matter of fact, there is," he said. "All of her classmates have been talking about My Little Pony, and she said that she wants to watch it." "Are you kidding me?" I said, "those things are like, what, 20 years old?"

He told me that My Little Pony was apparently making a big comeback for whatever reason. I was a bit skeptical, but I trusted my brother, since he had been stressing over his daughter birthday for much longer than I had, and he probably knew what he was talking about a lot better than I did.

After the phone call, I went on the internet to find a My Little Pony DVD. Sure enough, I found one without a problem, and I went ahead and bought it immediately. A couple days later, I got the DVD in the mail. As I was wrapping it, I had a thought: "I wonder what all of the fuss is about?" I confess, I went ahead and watched a couple episodes of it. My opinion is that while it was obviously a little girl's cartoon, it was decently made. I could see how my niece would want a DVD for her birthday, especially since all of the other girls were talking about how great it was. You know how little girls can be.

My niece's birthday came and went, and I got another phone call from my brother about 3 days afterward. I asked him how his daughter was liking her present. His response? "Holy crap, she has been watching it non-stop this entire time. After you left the party, her and her friends all watched it together." I guess that this made my niece a pretty popular girl in her class. I am very happy to hear that and I am very happy to know that my present helped to make my niece's life a little bit easier.

The final verdict? While adults may think it is kind of silly, young girls seem to love My Little Pony. This makes life much easier for those of us who like to wait until the last minute to do shopping. Buying My Little Pony DVDs online takes out a lot of the guesswork that is involved in buying young children gifts, especially young girls. So my final verdict is to buy a My Little Pony DVD for any young kid in your life.
