My Top 5 Favorite Teen Drama Shows To Watch On Netflix
1. The Vampire Diaries
The Vampire Diaries may at first seem like your typical vampire/werewolf/witch type deal, but I promise you it's much more than that. This suspenseful drama takes place in a fictional town called "Mystic Falls." Elena Gilbert ( Nina Dobrev) is a normal girl whose parents had tragically died in a car accident. Elena was also in the car but managed to survive. Her best friends include Caroline (Candice Accola) and Bonnie (Kat Graham). She starts to become interested in a boy named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) who is a vampire and then slowly starts to fall for his brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) which leads to many different events and conflicts. Main cast members include Michael Trevino, Zach Roerig, Steven R. McQueen, Matthew Davis and Sarah Canning. There are currently 6 seasons available on Netflix and the 7th season is currently on TV. I highly recommend you watch this show! P.S... if you get emotionally invested with characters like I do, you'll probably cry during the finale.
2. Gossip Girl
Narrated by Kristen Bell, Gossip Girl involves privileged prep-school teenagers on Manhattan's Upper East Side. "Gossip Girl" is responsible for exposing nearly every secret, heartache, and scandal that comes their way, making living a normal life without any drama virtually impossible. The main cast includes Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley, and Jessica Szohr. This show is extremely entertaining and addictive to watch and hey, their faces aren't too bad to look at either. As they say in the show,
Skins is a British teen drama that takes place in Bristol, South West England. It follows the lives of a group of teenagers (there are different generations throughout the show) and the problems they face. What I really like the most about this show is that it shows the real problems and things teenagers go through such as mental illness (eating disorders, bipolar disorder), sexuality, substance abuse, dysfunctional families, bullying, and even death. You get to see some of their lives go into a downward spiral and crumble. Each episode focuses on a particular person and we get an idea of the struggles they are facing. This show definitely made me tear up and just plain ball my eyes out at times. It's a very powerful show and I loved watching every minute of it. Its cast members for the first generation are Nicholas Hoult, Mike Bailey, April Pearson, Hannah Murray, Joe Dempsie, Larissa Wilson, Mitch Hewer, and Dev Patel. Second Generation: Kaya Scodelario, Lisa Backwell, Merveille Lukeba, Jack O'Connell, Luke Pasqualino, Ollie Barbieri, Megan Prescott, Kathryn Prescott, and Lily Loveless. Third Generation: Dakota Blue Richards, Will Merrick, Alex Arnold, Freya Mavor, Laya Lewis, Jessica Sula, Sean Teale, Sebastian De Souza, and Sam Jackson.
4. Pretty Little Liars
Pretty Little Liars stars Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, and Sasha Pieterse. Unfortunately an anonymous "A" starts to threaten them via text message and is willing to expose secrets they thought only Alison had known. Who the hell is A? What really happened to Alison? This drama is filled to the brim with suspense and will definitely make you want to binge-watch it. If you haven't watched this show yet, you will be able to find the first 5 seasons on netflix!
