Grandchildren: A look at mine (photographs to remember them by)
My Youngest Granddaughter
There isn't a grandmother alive that doesn't think her grandchildren shine. I know mine do, each one is a bright star in my heaven. They twinkle for me, some days one shines brighter than the others but never are any of them dull. Their beauty shines through at all times as well. I can't begin to sing their praises. Smart, honor students, members of their high school band, swimmers, soccer players, EMT, volunteer firefighter, and the list goes on. Of course that is where they are now and what they're doing, but this is my trip down memory lane, remembering them when they were my little twinkling stars.
Every visit, every occasion was made special by their attendance and their antics. Sometimes just eating a cupcake showed how adorable they were! As they grow so does your collection of photographs. Every time you see them is an opportunity to take pictures! After a while they make you feel like a photographer, "wait I have to get my camera" is a phrase said over and over. There are many sites on the Internet telling how to take pictures of kids in case you've had no practice. A good friend, Vinaya Ghimire has written about "Becoming a Baby Photographer". Even if you're not thinking of becoming a photographer there are some great hints to use here!

Precious moments and photo ops
There are so many precious moments in your grandchildren's life. So many you want to record. You look at their precious faces and their precocious attitudes and you just want to get your camera out and snap away! Even when they're sleeping you see a wonderful photo in front of you.
Some photos are great, some not so great, but because they're photos of your grandchildren they are precious and definitely family heirlooms. A way to remember their first step or their first baseball game, maybe just their first smile or funny face.
When you look back at that face covered in icing or that special smile, sometimes mischievous, nothing can replace that photo!

My Grandson and his many faces
One of my grandchildren is truly a master at making faces. It's hard to limit the pictures to pick with this little guy. So, as this started out about all seven of my grandchildren I began delving into photographs and found myself chuckling every time I found a picture of my little "Lon Chaney, Jr.", the "boy of a thousand faces." I've added a section just of him. I cannot possibly add all of his adorable photos but picked a few. He is really a character both on film and off, a personality to be proud of.

All kids love Water
Water is definitely an attraction for kids and offers many photo opportunities. Some of these pictures will show you what I mean. Anytime you're near a beach or a pool you know you have a photo op! Kids love to play in water, swim in it and just romp around. Cameras should always be on the ready when there's water and kids, you never know what photo op awaits.
Of course the older the child the more action shots will present themselves but it doesn't matter,, put kids and water together and you know you'll get some great pictures.

Kids and Sports
Of course sports and other activities go hand in hand with kids. I couldn't leave them out! My grandchildren are involved in just about every sport there is from organized sports to just playing on their own. They swim, run, play soccer, enjoy basketball and love to move around. Five of them (the sixth is only two and the seventh four months) are excellent swimmers belonging to their school swim teams and neighborhood swim team.
Photos of Your Grandchildren
There isn't enough room or time to enter all the wonderful photos I have of my wonderful grandchildren. The oldest is now 21 so you can imagine just how many photos I have starting twenty one years ago! Their antics and the faces they make, not to mention first steps, first time they rode a two wheeler bike, their first baseball game, and on and on. This has been a tiny dip into the Craig gene pool.
You have so many memories and opportunities to make more. With digital photography you can take picture after picture and just keep the best ones. How wonderful we don't have to worry about film and getting it developed any more. Truly a blessing for parents and grandparents.
Never be without a camera when your grandchildren are around, the strangest opportunities will arise and you'll be so glad you have those photos!
