Three Reasons to Love Neil Young

1> Like Bob Dylan he didn't let the fact that he doesn't have a great singing voice prevent him from achieving his dreams.

2> He doesn't let the record companies (or fans for that matter) lead his song writing. Rather, he writes what he feels - you can take it or leave it. In fact, Neil flips genres so often that his record company once sued him for failing to release "Neil Young" music.

3> He has written some of the best songs of all time.

What a wonderful lens. However, the quiz questions were a bit of a challenge :). I was only an occasional fan, but I love his music, back to the early years.

I really like Neil Young's style and to me his voice sounds good. I also like Bob Dylan a lot and the two do have their similarities. Neil Young refuses to sell out and I honestly believe that he is not in it only for the money. The Decade LP set is among my top 5 favorite albums of all time. Kepp on Rockin in a free world!

I'd love to find a video of him singing "Hurricane" from "American Stars and Bars". My first really serious BF used to sing that to me. That was a very hard to find album. I found it at a very out of the way vintage record store. I've never really looked for it on CD, but now I think I will.

      ~~*~~

I ADORE Neil Young! so glad to see a lens about him. I heard a story about Neil Young from Graham Nash, who played for a small group of artists in Hawaii. One time when Nash visited Young, Neil took him out on a little row boat on a lake that met his cabin. When they were out in the middle of the lake Neil Young's new music came on.. in the ultimate stereo.. out there in the middle of the lake! Neil asked Nash, "So what do you think of my new song?"

      GREAT HUH?!

Aloha and thank you for visiting my Rumi lens as well as others I have created! Kathy

His personal and musical integrity. Still plays the same sound, only refined. His voice against War, homelessness, corruption, commercialism make him tops.
