Netflix Relic "Mr.Nobody" (Spoiler free)

Updated on May 22, 2015

Decision Time

You have just invited that cute guy/girl you like over for a night of Netflix and pizza, who doesn't love that? Only problem is you've just ordered pizza and realize you have no clue what you guys are going to watch on Netflix. With so much to choose from finding the right movie can take ages and nobody has time for that, everyone loves a prepared host and if you greet your guest at the door with "Wait until you see this movie we're watching" it sounds a lot better than "What should we watch?". Have no fear, Mr.Nobody is here to save the day.

A Diamond in the Rough

We all have probably spent time watching one of the many absolute herrendous movies Netflix has to offer, but there are some good ones thrown in there as well. Mr.Nobody is one of these few gems and I promise it is not a waste of time. Mr.Nobody is a film about a little boy who is faced with the most difficult decision in his life, choosing between his mother and father. The film uses non-linear editing to transition between the possible lives the boy would live given each decision, jumping from past, to present, to future. Unlike most generic blockbuster films, Mr.Nobody reaches to new heights and tests you as a viewer. This isn't one of those movies that you can put on in the background while you do some chores around the house, you're going to want to get your thinking cap on, sit down, and pay close attention. VERY close attention.

No this is not a Spielberg classic, Nolan blockbuster, or action packed Bay movie. Although what it is, is beautifully done. Written and Directed by the Bulgarian filmmaker known for his sentimental and deep themes, Jaco Van Dormael keeps you enthralled throughout the duration of the film. From the first scene to the last you are left looking at the television thinking to yourself "What the F***". If you like mind boggling fantasy story lines this is most definitely your cup of tea, if not it still is. Mr.Nobody reaches out to the audience on many levels, with relatable themes and a plot surrounded by love in every which way. Of course the only guy applicable for such a role as good ole Mr.Nobody could be none other than Oscar winning Actor Jared Leto.

And of course as expected from him boy is his performance in this nothing short of extraordinary, he captures the emotion and internal conflict of Nemo Nobody perfectly. The film was nominated for several European awards, and won multiple all the way from "Best film" to "Best Director" and "Best Cinematography". Still don't believe me? Check out the chilling trailer below and it will be sure to end up on your Instant Que by the end of the night. Happy Netflixing!
