Netflix UK !

Updated on April 16, 2012

Yes that's right, Netflix has finally arrived in the UK !

Finally Netflix has come to the UK, any film loving fanatic like myself will be very pleased with this news. However not everyone will know what Netflix UK is and might not know exactly how it works.

How does it work ?

I will explain what Netflix UK is, how it works, and how much it will cost you if you choose to purchase the service. Netflix UK is basically an online database that has next to all movies available for you to stream from the Internet to your computer. You can stream the service through your computer, but can also stream through other devices such as a PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. You can also stream the service to your tablet device too including some supported smart phones. The service is on a pay per month subscription service, for that you get completely unlimited movie streaming for the month you have paid for. This basically means that you can watch back to back movies until they are growing out of your ears ! [scary thought] So many Americans sing the praises of Netflix, I have been so jealous that the UK has not been able to receive this service until now of course.

How much does it all cost ?

I'm sure at this point your liking the sound of this service, I know I sure am ! At this point I thought to myself "unlimited movies for a month ? Thats got to be expensive." I couldn't have been more wrong. I was so surprised to find out that for the very small price of just £6.00 per month you can get all of this. I have noticed that Netflix UK are also giving people a free one month trial, this means that you can have one month for free and then if you decide you don't want to pay for the next month you can simply just cancel the subscription. This means you have had a month of free streaming and are not going to have to pay for any more, sounds good right, what have you got to loose ? Its also worth pointing out that there are no hidden cancellation charges, you can cancel at anytime 24 hours a day. So don't get think Netflix UK will bite you on the bum when your not looking !

Are there any requirements ?

You will need to have a reasonably good Internet connection speed to stream this service as there is allot of date to transfer from the Netflix UK servers to your device. However, they say that you don't have to have one of these ridiculously fast connections for it to work well. A half decent broadband connection will do. Netflix UK also gives you the option to choose the quality you want the movie streamed in, so that means you can decide whether you want more speed, but less quality, or great quality, but you might have to wait for a bit for it to buffer. Its worth noting that Netflix UK also offer streaming in HD. I stated earlier that there is quite allot of data to transfer from the servers to you computer, because of this it is also worth bearing in mind that you might want to make sure that your Internet provider gives you an unlimited data plan and there are not any restrictions or over usage charges.

Well thats all there is really to say for Netflix's new arrival in the UK, I'm enjoying my free trial, will you be getting yours ?

I am personally so glad that Netflix has arrived in the UK, I have wanted Netflix for so long now !

Thanks for reading this article "Netflix UK", any comments are always welcome.

We already have LoveFilm here in the UK but I for one am pleased to see that NetFlix is now available too. As far as I'm concerned at £6 a month the service is a real bargain and being able to use it with other devices is a real bonus!

I think 5.99 is a really cheap price though. I'm not sure how much it was a while ago in the U.S. Thanks for the comment cr00059n. Appreciated.

I thought Netflix was available in all European areas. This move by the company is in an effort to increase revenue and profit margins. Not quite a while ago, Netflix lost more than a million customers by changing there rental plan prices. Lukeuk, you can count on this company to be a strong performer and survivor. Not only from a consumer's point of view is it safe, but also from an investor's point of view. Thanks for sharing. Many regards.
