Since Stephen Strange believes he is nothing without his hands, he searches the world for methods to restore them. Recommendation - Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is a fun and bizarre new addition to the Marvel Universe. With amazing digital effects and crazy mystical powers, the movie feels fresh compared to other superhero movies. However I think the character will fit well with The Avengers and I am excited to see how characters (such as Iron Man, Captain America, Ant-Man and others) react to these mystical realms. The movie has humor, and tells a satisfying redemption story with effects that surpass Inception. It has a couple of minor issues but they are just that, minor.

I liked this movie quite a bit and think that it is a strong reminder that Marvel Studios knows what it's doing. I think this is a movie worth checking out and definitely recommend adding it to your home video collection.

Recommendation - Allied

Few people know this, but the original title for this movie was Mr. and Mrs. Smith 2: Revenge of the Smith. Okay, I'm obviously joking, but it is hard not to draw comparisons between this movie and Mr. and Mrs. Smith especially when Brad Pitt is the lead actor. Due to the similarity in the plots between these two movies, I was not expecting much from this film. I was pleasantly surprised after seeing this movie because I thought it was much more entertaining than Mr. and Mrs. Smith. This movie has hard, rated-R, brutal war violence that is an absolute blast to watch. I also really enjoyed the performances and chemistry between Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard. This movie is a brutal war action movie with a complicated romance story that is worth seeing.

I think this movie is worth watching and I encourage you to look past the Mr. and Mrs. Smith similarities. This movie is so vastly different. This is a fun and interesting movie to watch but I don't think it has much rewatchability. So I definitely recommend renting this movie, but cannot recommend adding this movie to your home video collection.

Synopsis - Moonlight

Moonlight tells a complicated story about a boy named Chiron and his difficult journey to adulthood. The first part of the story starts when young Chiron (Alex Hibbert) meets a local drug dealer named Juan (Mahershala Ali) when Chiron is being chased by a group of bullies in which Juan comes to his rescue. Juan quickly becomes a mentor (of sorts) to Chiron as a boy since Chiron has an irresponsible mother. The second part of the story shows Chiron's life as a teenager (played by Ashton Sanders) after Juan is out of his life. Chiron struggles to find his place in school and in life in general. The third part of the story shows Chiron as an adult (played by Trevante Rhodes). Chiron meets with an old friend as the two have dinner and reflect on their past.

Recommendation - Moonlight

Going into this movie, I knew very little of what it was about. I expected a generic story about a difficult life of a boy in a bad neighborhood and how he becomes a man. While that is essentially what this movie was about, it was far from generic. This movie is absolutely filled with great drama, great acting and some shocking plot points. This is not a happy movie that ends with a happy ending but I do believe that it is an important movie to see. It shows just how difficult life can be for someone who has little in the way of role models and is constantly and harassed through his life.

It is no surprise to me that this movie won Best Picture at the 2017 Oscars. I absolutely recommend renting this movie, but it is a depressing movie and is similar to Manchester by the Sea in the sense that you will probably not want to watch this movie more than once. So definitely rent it, but I cannot recommend adding this to your home video collection.

Recommendation - Shut In

I am not going to lie, I think this premise is interesting for a horror/thriller film. Unfortunately this movie ends up being an absolute mess. You will be confused in a bad way, while watching this movie. Not because the plot twists and turns, but because the movie is full of plot points that make no sense. I am trying to be vague here in case anyone reading this decides to watch this movie. I hope the writers of this film were not paid because this movie was all over the place. Again, it is filled with plot points and plot development that make absolutely no sense and it is paired with a weird horror element in which a small child is terrorizing this woman. The premise of this movie is interesting but that is really the only compliment I can give this movie.

I cannot recommend renting this movie. I cannot recommend adding it to your home video collection. I cannot recommend spending your money on this movie in any way.
