Recommendation - Power Rangers

This movie was not bad but it was not what it should have been. The action in this movie was decent but it was not nearly enough for a movie called Power Rangers. The movie also takes way too long to have the team morph into the Power Rangers. This would be forgivable if the teens and their storylines were interesting enough to hold the audience. I thought Zordon had a more interesting story arc than any of the Rangers and I thought that the moments where Zordon or Alpha 5 were on screen were the moments that this film worked the best. One of the worst parts of this movie was it's focus on unity. So much of the movie consists of the team being told they need to unite in order to succeed but the "payoff", to all of this, did not work for me. The worst part of this movie? All the Powre Rangers action is saved for the end of the movie. It is all condensed into the last twenty minutes or so and goes by too quickly. Such a disappointmen.

I do not recommend adding this movie to your home video collection. I think this movie is a fairly disappointing film. Kids will be bored, adult Power Rangers fans will be disappointed, and new potential fans will not be won over. This movie does have some good qualities but but just does not deliver the movie it promises.

Recommendation - Chips

This movie has some laughs but it is far from perfect. It falls into all of the same issues that most action-comedies fall into. It sacrifices story deliver action and comedy. The action in this film, works, There are explosions, guns and motorcycle stunts. On thatclebel, this movie delivers what it promises. The comedy, however did not usually work. Some of it hit, one of it missed. I would be lying if I said that this movie did not have me laughing. There were funny moments but this movie had room to be much funnier than it was. The plot was weak and predictable. The relationship between Jon and Frank felt very generic like I have seen it before in many movies.

I do not think this is a bad movie. There is some enjoyable actuon and comedy, but it did have room for improvement. For that reason, I cannot recommend adding this movie to your home video collection, but go ahead and rent it if you are a fan of the action-comedy genre.

Recommendation - Life

The best part of this movie was the horror. It does a decent job of conveying the isolation and the feeling of being trapped with a violentife form. This movie fails when it comes to the plot. It is both ridiculous and predictable and, ultimately, did not have me invested in this movie. I will be honest, I was very interested in the beginning of the movie but the ridiculous plot quickly lost me as an invested audience member. This movie had serious potential but it fails at capitalizing on it. The characters are poorly written and the plot is full of plot holes. I did think this movie had some decent horror suspense but it was not nearly enough to save the movie for me.

I cannot recommend adding this movie to your home video collection and I cannot recommend renting it. I can only recommend watching it if it is on Netflix or cable and you do not have to spend your hard earned money on it.
