One Misty Morning
A Beautiful Morning!
The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is open the kitchen curtains to look out on the orchard and check-out the new morning.
This one is a real treat - it’s misty and the sun is shining! A photographers delight.
No time for a cup of coffee; timing is crucial in capturing that magical moment.
A Perfect Light
I quickly pull on a pair of jeans over my pyjamas, an old hat on my ruffled, sleep induced hairdo, grab a jacket and my camera and rush out.
There is something magical and mysterious about a misty morning, that sets the photographers pulse in me racing.
Especially when the sun is just rising, the light is quite magnificent.
'My' Time of the Day
Every morning I go for a jog down the lane, through the churchyard over the field and back through the orchard.
Chances are I won’t see anybody and I always consider this ‘my’ time of the day.
I always linger in the churchyard, it’s one of the most peaceful places I know. Some churchyards can be a little spooky and make you feel uncomfortable, but this one has a wonderful, gentle and spiritual atmosphere.
Sadly, the orchard is neglected these days and there are a lot of old, decaying and fallen trees, but they still look beautiful in their own way.
Already you can see the bunches of mistletoe growing up in the branches. My husband and I always enjoy collecting some to hang in the rooms for Christmas.
A Breathtaking Sight
The rays of the sun shining through the trees is quite breathtaking this morning and the light and colour simply magical.
I am so absorbed in running around taking photos, I must have covered double the distance I normally do in my daily exercise.
Hopefully I am not being watched, to an observer I must look a frightening sight running around frantically in the mist, I suppose I could be mistaken for some sort of ghostly apparition!
The Magical Moment Captured!
Arriving home I take off my jacket and remove my trainers, bubbling with excitement I tell Nick about the beautiful mood of the morning and the fabulous scene I’ve been so lucky to enjoy.
Just a few minutes later walking into the kitchen, to make that much needed cup of coffee, I looked out of the window and the mist was gone!
The joy of photography is all about timing and capturing that magical moment before it disappears.
On so many occasions when I have looked out of the window and seen the sun rising or a beautiful sunset, I’ve dashed around quickly putting on jacket and trainers, run up the lane only to find the sun has risen or set and I have missed it!
This misty morning I got my timing right, what a wonderful start to the day, for me there is no better.
I get a real thrill out of taking photos of nature and an even bigger thrill out of sharing them.
