Oprah is saying goodbye...

The Oprah Winfrey Show

Over the past 24 years Oprah has become a house hold name. A constant in so many people lives. Does not matter if you love her, hate her, strive to be like her or strive to be better than her, you know who she is. Oprah announced that in 2011 she will tape the last Oprah Winfrey Show. This will make Oprahs 25th year-her final year.

I have been asked by many people, why do you go out of your way for others? I’ve been asked-do you really think that being kind and believing in people, and doing all you can to help them, will ever pay off for you in the long run? I didn’t like these questions nor did I like the mouths of the people that they came from. I don’t think that someone should have to justify why they are kind and want the very best for people that they come in contact with. I became tired of these ridiculous questions and came up with a clever response. I began to tell people this, “It’s not real-the kindness and looking out for others is complete BS. The only reason I am doing this is so one day, some person that I was nice to, and lent a hand to remembers me while watching Oprah. That person will then write to Gail (Oprahs friend), and tell Gail how wonderful and caring I was to them in their time of need. I will then be asked to a show, where I believe I will just sit in the audience, but really will be given a check to pay off my mortgage and she will hand over the keys to a brand new car-meant just for me. After the show-Oprah and I will sit and chat, and I will ask to take some pictures of the set and crew for memorabilia. She will love the photos I take and ask me to fly out to her home and take some of her and her dogs. Other celebs will see them and I will soon be taking their photographs for magazines, where I will also begin to write, ‘how to’ articles, which will allow me to make millions of dollars before I am 50 years old. So you see- I must be nice to all that I meet, cause someone is bound to write to Oprah and then; life is gravy from there.”

I am not serious, that is not why I am nice to people. I look at people like Oprah as blessings, because they really do go out of their way to assist people that need it. I understand that she is the richest or one of the richest women in the world, so a car or million dollar give away is not that big of a deal to her. It is however, a very big deal to the people that receive these gifts. I am nice to people and always take time to listen to someone that needs to talk, because I want to give back to the world, and since I will probably not figure out a way to accomplish world peace-I figure, to give back what I can when I can, which is a choice. Oprah chooses to give back because she feels it is the right thing to do, and many people love and admire her for it.

There are rumors that Ellen will fill her shoes. Although I love and admire Ellen for her talents when held to Oprahs stature, does she compare?  Then again...I could be wrong and Ellen may be able to start an all new era with all the previous Oprah Fans. At least the wardrobe will be simple to maintain if Ellen stepped in to Oprahs shoes. I can recall the most hideous Oprah hair do’s (don’ts), and the largest shoulder pads I have ever seen on someone (that was not a man trying to be a woman).

With all joking aside- Oprah has helped many, lives that deserved to be helped. She has made her fortune and climb to success with grace and poise. Her talk show is still tasteful and clean. The house wives afternoon routine would certainly have been different without her. She has without a doubt pushed open the door of possibilities for woman striving towards success. As shocking as the news may be for some, Oprah will not continue taping past the 25th season. It’s going to take one heck of a gal to fill those billion dollar shoes. I wonder what Oprah will do with her time after the show ends?

Oprah and many talk shows like it is a tired format that hopefully will be replaced by better tv dramas in it's place, of course some of the real life inspiring stories on Oprah were great, but some of the boring angry audience members shouting and all that stuff that made Jerry Springer and Rikki Lake so fashionable, just put me off watching these types of shows forever, they are filled with a way of watching others lives at all the points when it loses all interest, because arguements just bore the hell out of me!!!

      Happy retirement Oprah!

I live in the Chicago area, and I think that she is tired of getting a show and filming, and needs a break after 25 years. Her job may seem wonderful, but think about how much work goes into the filming, I think that she is wonderful and wish her a lot of luck!

Oprah is taking the money and running before they let her go. I heard that Ellen will take her place.
