Our Kids Are Being Dumbed Down
These Are Their Role Models?
For any parents who are ignoring what is going on out there, please read this and consider that what your child(ren) watch can be a powerful tool to teach them all sorts of things. So if we do not look at what they watch they can turn from a sweet and innocent child into a conformist. But what exactly are they conforming to? Family values? Modesty? Righteousness? Let's go over a few different reasons as to why we need to get our children away from these guys.
These Celebrities are Out of Control
The best case for this example is Miley Cyrus. She was world famous for her show Hannah Montana, which aired between March 24, 2006 and January 16, 2011, as well as a film in February 1, 2008. The show was a big hit and portrayed her as an average schoolgirl by day and a famous recording artist named Hannah Montana by night. The show itself often gave good morals on relationships, family life, and more while providing a comedic atmosphere. Even when off camera she gave the image of a good role model, participating in various charities and treating her fans very respectively. She even went as far as to visit them in the hospital if they were sick.
But with her being out of the Disney scene for a while she has sadly done what most child stars do. Wanting to have a more "mature" image, she has done many gratuitous things such as appearing naked on social media, smoking weed on stage, and twerking. Just look at her song "Can't Be Tamed" from a few years ago and "We Can't Stop", which was the song that promoted her "mature" image. Don't believe me? Please look it up for yourself because I am not including these things in my article as they are graphic. This kind of change in drastic behavior can change the minds of innocent little girls and make boys glorify something disgusting. The funny thing is that her drastic change is similar to the episode of Hannah Montana called "Yet Another Side of Me." In this episode a woman named Isis (A parody of Madonna) tries to tell Hannah that she needs to change her style because she is getting boring or else her career will end. Except she learns her lesson at the end of the episode. Doesn't look like she is going to live up to her name. Is it just me, or is the fact that this show parallels her real life transformation too similar to just be a coincidence?
The Influence of Bad Music
When I say bad, I do not mean like music with low ratings. I mean the music that glorifies sex, drugs, pride, and violence. A lot of the music coming out nowadays has subliminal or outright proclamations of these kinds of things. For example, let's look at some of the hit songs within the last few years.
Coco by O.T. Genasis: This guy loves cocaine.
Rap God by Eminem: Excessive pride and inappropriate references.
We Can't Stop by Miley Cyrus: Promoting a promiscuous lifestyle as well as lewd imagery.
These songs are only from a few years ago and are the epitome of what is wrong with modern society. Look at the newer music and you can see there is no difference. Is this what we want our kids listening to? That it is okay to do this kind of stuff and it will make you famous? Me personally, I would not ley my kid listen to it.
We already went over how schools are not helping our children (What is wrong with schools today?), so when we add that to this messed up media driven world, our children are only walking into dens full of these things. Sure our teachers try to quell it down, but they are severely outnumbered. Without bright young individuals who are willing to lead a better example, we will not be able to teach our children to be righteous people in a world full of hate. They are only going to end up following the masses to their eventual downfall. I don't know about you, but I do not want to see a single child follow these kind of people. So those of you in authority need to get your children off of this mess. Otherwise they are going to end up becoming irritable brats who want to follow the norms instead of what's right and what is in their real personal interest.
