To Feel Love, To Experience Love

How many times have we thought about a past love, or someone we yearn to be with. Maybe our love is far away, or no longer a part of our lives, but we long for that person.

To experience love, you have to open yourself up to love with open arms. Allowing love to come into your life will allow you to feel love, and be in love.

Lots of things remind us of being love, like pictures, memories, and love songs. Songs remind us of broken love, past loves, and present loves. Lyrics to songs sometimes make us cry, laugh or feel sad. Some of the best love songs are great songs, not only because of their lyrics, but the way they are sung.

One example is the song, Overjoyed, by Steve Wonder. This love ballad is a beautiful song, accompanied by a beautiful video, shown below. In the video, Stevie bumps into what appears to be a long, lost love, but she can’t stay, and she is in a hurry to get away. The video continues with Stevie singing his song, Overjoyed, dreaming of his love. Watch the video below to see how the story ends.

Overjoyed Lyrics

The song, Overjoyed, was a hit single released in 1985, song by the Motown legend, Stevie Wonder. It is from the album, In Square Circle. It was a No. 1 hit on the adult contemporary chart, and reached No. 24 on the Billboard Chart in 1986. It remained in the top 40 for six weeks.

The song was performed live by Stevie Wonder on Saturday Night Live, on May 7, 1983.

A duet version of the song was sung by Celine Dion with Steve Wonder on her 2013 studio album, Loved Me Back to Life.

Lyrics to the song, Overjoyed:

Over time, I've been building my castle of love

Just for two, though you never knew you were my reason

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I've gone much too far, for you now to say

That I've got to throw my castle away

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Over dreams, I have picked out a perfect 'come true'

Though you never knew it was of you I've been dreaming

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The sandman has come from too far away

For you to say, "Come back some other day"

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And though you don't believe that they do

They do come true, for did my dreams

Come true when I looked at you

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And maybe too, if you would believe

You too might be overjoyed, over loved, over me

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Over hearts, I have painfully turned every stone

Just to find, I had found what I've searched to discover

I've come much too far for me now to find

The love that I've sought can never be mine

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And though you don't believe that they do

They do come true, for did my dreams

Come true when I looked at you

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And maybe too, if you would believe

You too might be overjoyed, over loved, over me

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And though the odds say improbable

What do they know for in romance

All true love needs is a chance

And maybe with a chance you will find

You too like I, overjoyed, over loved, over you

Over you

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Never Stop Dreaming About Love

The song, Overjoyed, is a reminder about how we should never stop dreaming about love. Just like sandcastles come and go, so does love. We should always continuing building our circle of love. Love one another, and love yourself too. :-)

Just like in the song, Overjoyed, when the lyrics say “And though you don't believe that they do, they do come true”, this is a reminder that dreams can come true, if you just believe. And in the lines, ” And though the odds say improbable, what do they know for in romance, all true love needs is a chance”, this reminds us to take a chance.

What’s stopping you? Become overjoyed right now by some one, or some thing. When you take a chance, you might be surprised that you may find yourself overjoyed.

What Makes Us Feel Overjoyed?

  • Hugging someone tight
  • Someone smiling at you from across the room
  • Someone reaching out to hold your hand
  • Seeing someone that you haven't seen for a long time
  • A phone call or email from a long lost friend that you have been trying to reach
  • Reaching the finish line of a walk-a-thon
  • Seeing a live performance of your favorite singing group or other entertainer
  • Watching a friend or relative getting married at their wedding
  • Attending a graduation ceremony of a loved one, child, or friend

      Thanks for sharing - I had never heard this one before, probably because in the 80s, I was listening to country, but I like it. Good job. What makes me overjoyed is doing what pleases the Holy Spirit.

      The past, present, and future Hubs on the topic of love have been, are, and will be inexhaustible. This one's a good one too. I've contributed a few, and will from time to time. Great (greatest?) topic.
