Padmavati is an upcoming Indian historical epic film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Bhansali Productions and Viacom 18 motion pictures. Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranvir Singh are the main characters in the film. The film was going to be released in theatres on December 1, 2017; But the release date has now been postponed due to numerous controversies and, it has not announced yet when it will be released.

Deepika Padukone - Rani Padmini

Shahid Kapoor - Raval Ratan Singh

Ranveer Singh - Alauddin Khilji

Aditi Rao Hyderi - Kamala Devi

This film describes Chittoor's famous Rajput Rani Padmini, wife of Raval Ratan Singh. This film also shows the invasion of Alauddin Khilji, the Turkish ruler of Delhi Sultanate in 1303 AD on the fort of Chittorgarh. According to Padmavat, the cause of Alauddin's attack on Chittor was his attraction to the Queen Padmini's graceful beauty. Finally, on 28 January 1303 CE, Sultan succeeded in capturing the fort of Chittor. Rana Ratan Singh was martyred in the war and his wife Rani Padmini committed Jauhar (source) (self-immolation) with other women keeping self-esteem and pride above death.

Production of the film began in July 2016. In the same month, playback singer Shreya Ghoshal tweeted that she would sing a song composed by Bhansali in the film. In the media, speculations were being made that Ranvir Singh and Deepika Padukone, who played Bhansali's films in the roles of bullets in Ramlila (2013) and Bajirao Mastani (2015), will play the role of Allauddin Khilji and Rani Padmini in this movie.

It was announced in October 2016 that Bhansali, together with Viacom 18 motion pictures, will make the film in which Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone will play the lead role.

During the film shooting in Jaipur in January 2017, some members of the Rajput Karani Army protested against the film and demolished the film set in Jaigad Fort. He alleged that the historical facts have been tampered with in the film. After some time the producers of the film assured that nothing in the movie is objectionable. On March 6, 2017, these members again busted Chittorgarh fort and broke the mirror set in the palace of Rani Padmini. According to officials of the Archaeological Survey of India, these mirrors were kept in Chittorgarh fort some 40 years ago.

On March 15, 2017, a group of unknown people again sabotaged and set fire to the film set in Kolhapur, which burnt production sets, costumes, and jewellery. The film's production budget has increased from 160 crores to 200 crores, which has increased due to many vandalism due to the loss of potential production and is now expected to be the most expensive Bollywood movie.

Music composer Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the movie's songs. Singer Shreya Ghoshal has already recorded a song for the film. Deepika Padukone has been seen rendering traditional Rajasthani folk dance in the film. According to Shreya Ghoshal, "The film has very beautiful songs. The combination of folk music and impressive instrumental instruments in the film is wonderful.''

Padmavati film director Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali clarified that there is no any historical distortion in this film.

Dispute And Protest On Film:

During the film production, became the subject of controversy. Groups such as Mr Rajput Karani army were accused of depicting the wrong facts. However, a sting operation organized by an Indian news channel in connection with the dismissal of the film set was shown by the workers that the filmmakers had made controversies to raise money from filmmakers. In such a situation, the dispute has increased. As a result of the collapse, the old mirrors set up in Chittoor Fort also broke, which were 40 years old according to the Archaeological Survey of India.

In January 2017, a film set was broken up. Many historians responded to vandalism In the Times of India report, "Sufi poet Jaisi made the story and later got the status of heritage, so historians say that Bhansali cannot be threatened to get a creative license with the story." Akhilesh Khandelwal, Indian politician and member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), created a Facebook post, which announces the award for the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for any person who shocks. The opposition Indian National Congress condemned this, demanding action against Khandelwal for 'attempt to attack'. On the set of a film on Bhansali, Karani was attacked by the army, due to which many celebrities and people condemned the attack.

In March 2017, while the cast and crew had a visual film in the Masai Plateau, at Kolhapur in the night, about 20-30 people armed with petrol bombs, stones, and sticks, accused them of being present in the set at that time. Harmed animals and destroyed many costumes. As a result of some attacks, Rajput groups claim that the film contains a dream sequence, where Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji will be shown in an intimate position. In October 2017, a Rangoli of the first poster was released from the film, which allegedly took 48 hours to make, a group of about 100 people destroyed and shouted with religious slogans. Deepika Padukone condemned the action and expressed anger over the issue on social media, after which the police officers took action.

The Karani army threatened violence, allegedly threatening to burn the theatres. They say that before the film is released to the audience, they should be shown for evaluation. Bhansali said that the rumours of a romantic dream sequence between Padmini and Khilji are false and there is no such scene in this film. The second major charge, Padmavati, is to be danced in the court, which has been performed many times on the news channels in the trailer form. In November 2017, before the release, four states have been banned from showing the film. It is said that "How can Rajput dance and how can it be seen without a knife? It is against Rajput culture and pride and no community will be able to tolerate it." Arjun Gupta, the member of the Central Film Certification Board, has requested the Home Minister to prosecute Bhansali for sedition. Historians have criticized protests, such as Aditya Mukherjee has called the protest "absurd". He says, "This is a misuse of both story and history. There is no historical proof of this Padmavati incident, this story is a poet's imagination." Legendary story writer Devdatt Patnaik started a debate on the controversial Padmavati (film) in 2017 when he expressed his objection to the story of Rani Padmini and called it "the glamour and pricing of ideas of a woman who volunteered to burn herself".

Bhansali and main actress Deepika Padukone have been described as a threat, and the deployment of police in Indian cinemas can be deployed. The Karani army has threatened to kill violent attacks and Padukone, whose Mumbai Police has responded with special protection. Haryana BJP Chief Coordinator Kunwar Surajpal Amu announced a reward of 10 crores for the person who had cut the head of Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Recently, the Censor Board of Film Certification has expressed objection to the film in connection with Karani Army's protest. The censor board has refused to accept the movie 'Padmavati' at the moment. Quoting technical shortcomings, the board has sent back the film's application. The Board of Directors of the Censor, Prasoon Joshi said, "The board received the application for the review this week for the review." Makers himself said that the application was incomplete, that the film was fictional or historically it was not marked up to the disclaimer, It is absolutely wrong to blame the avoidance. "

In this riot of disputes and protests, the most important reason for the opposition to become more aggressive is to deny the existence of Padmavati by historians and some scholars, in a way express sympathy for the filmmaker. It is worth mentioning from the protesters that even if Padmavati's historical existence is not proven, is there any mention of any Rajput descent in the history of any of the Raja Rajputani queens in the court of Darshan? But in the history of entire India, what is the name of any queen of any dynasty dancing in the open court? In Indian history, whenever a king has married a dancer or other relatively low-level woman, then there are many references to him being danced in the courts. Even if Rani Padmini has not happened, then even Ratan Singh will be a queen and even if the incident is not there, can any such arbitrary remission be obtained in any film based on any historical basis? The need for historians to comment responsibly rather than deny the existence of Padmavati also proves the demand of history itself.

Real History Of Queen Padmavati:

Padmavati or Padmini was the queen of King Ratnasinh (Ratansen) of Chittor (1302-1303 CE). The historical existence of this queen is often accepted, but the historical existence of her name is questionable. The main source of this name is Malik Muhammad, an epic called Padmavat. Any other historical source or texts describing 'Padmavati' or 'Padmini' are all the successors of 'Padmavat'.

Name 'Padmini' or 'Padmavati'?

Most of the scriptural texts have been accepted as 'Padmini', whereas the Zaisi has clearly accepted the name 'Padmavati'. It is evident from the description of the word 'Padmini' that they also mean the highest rank of women. Joyce has written clearly that Raja Gandharvasen had sixteen thousand Padmini queens, among which the best queen Champawati, who was a Patni. Padmavati was born from the womb of this Champawati. In this way, the name of 'Padmavati' is clearly accepted only in the primary source of the story.

According to poetry/legends

According to Jaisi, Padmavati was the daughter of King Gandharvesen of Sinhalese Island and Rajat Ratan Sen, the King of Chittor, went there in the presence of Yogi and after several years of efforts, married with him, brought him Chittoor. He was very beautiful and hearing about the description of his appearance by a disgusted astrologer Raghav Chetan by Ratansen, Sultan Alauddin Khilji of Delhi attacked Chittorgarh. After 8 years of war, Alauddin Khilji could not win Chittor, he returned, and for the second time, he invaded King Ratansena by deceiving and sought Padmavati as a condition to return it. Then, deceit was also resorted to by Padmavati and with the help of Gora-Badal, Raja Ratansena was freed by visiting the many heroes and visiting the guardians as Padmavati. But as soon as this trick was detected, Alauddin Khilji invaded the country, in which most Rajput heroes were killed in Delhi. King Ratansena returned to Chittor but as soon as he came here, he had to attack Kumbhar, and Devpal was killed in battle with the ruler of Kumbhalaran, but Raja Ratansena too was injured and returned to Chittor and ascended to heaven. Alauddin Khilji has attacked again. Rani Padmavati was burnt alive with other sixteen hundred women and all the Rajput warriors were killed while fighting the fort open. Allauddin Khilji got nothing but ashes.

A mixture of misconceptions in history:

Colonel Todd has repeatedly recounted the same story with some manipulation in the story of his life in Rajasthan's history. Colonel Todd's description has been very less historically due to his writing mainly based on the stories of Bhato. He has given the name of Bhimsi (Bhim Singh) instead of Raja Ratnasinh or Ratansen, and he was not really Rana, but the uncle of Rana Lakhmasi (Lakshman Singh), who was governed because of being the child of Lakshman Singh. Colonel Todd considered Bhim Singh's rule as Lakshman Singh and his guardian in 1275 AD; While it is well known that Alauddin Khilji's invasion happened in 1303 AD. Likewise, Colonel Todd has told Padmini the daughter of Hamir Shankh, a Chauhan dynasty of Singhal Island. Except for these changes, the rest of the story is often related to Padmavat, except for exceptions.

Historical Evidence:

There has been a lot of churn among the historians about the invasion of Rani Padmini, Raja Ratan Singh, and Alauddin Khilji. In this context, the most quoted and certified Mahamopadhyay is considered the opinion of Raibahadur Gaurishankar Hirachand Ojha. Ojha Ji clearly wrote in the context of Padmavat's legend that in the absence of history, people considered Padmavat as a historical book, but in reality, he is a poetic story of historical authors of today, whose caste is composed on these historical things. Ratan sen (Ratan Singh) The king of Chittor, Padmini or Padmavati was his queen and Alauddin Sultan of Delhi, who fought with Ratan sen (Ratan Singh) The fort was Chittor. Often all other things have been conceived to make the story interesting; Because Ratansingh could not rule the state for a year, how can it be possible for a yogi to become a yogi and go to his countryside (Lanka) and get married to the princess there. At that time, the King of Singhal Pradesh should not be Gandhavarsen, but King Kirtinisankank Dev Parakrakra Bahu (fourth) or Bhuvanek Bahu (third) should be. There was no king named Gandhavarsena in the Singhal island by that time Kumbahner (Kumbhalgarh) had not even populated, how would Devpal be considered the king of that place? Alauddin did not return to Delhi after fighting for Chittor for 8 years, but after fighting for six months in the estimation, he had taken Chittor, he had only once Chittor, so the story of coming second is fictitious.

Thus it becomes clear that finding historically in the legend of Padmavat epic composed by a real life is very nonsensical. Some names are historically, but events are mostly hypothetical. Some of the events which are historic are not related to it from 1303 AD until 1531 AD. Similarly, the description of Colonel Todd is also largely un-Islamic. In this context, Ojaji has a clear statement that Colonel Todd has written this story especially on the basis of Bhatto of Mewar and Bhatto has taken him from Padmavat. In the Bhat's books, without the name of Ratan Singh after Samar Singh, Tad mixed Padmini with Bhim Singh and recognized him as an incarnation of Lakhmasi (Laxman Singh). According to similar statements, Tad also wrote Lakhshi's child and being the king of Mewar, but Lakhshi had never been a king of Mewar and was a child, but Sisode feudal leader was at that time and old age had reached. Because he had been killed in battle with Alauddin by becoming the head of the army of Ratnas to pay his salt, including his seven sons, as Vikram Savant 1517 (E.E. 1460) The inscription of Kumbhalgarh has been told above. Similarly, Bhimsee (Bhim Singh) was not the uncle of Lakhmasi (Lakshman Singh), but he was a grandfather, as Rana is found in the 'Ekalangaamahastya' of Kumbhakarna. Tad's statement in such a situation may not be worthy of trust. If there is any root cause of 'Padmavat', 'Date Firasta' and Tad's Rajasthan articles, then only that Alauddin climbed Chittor and conquered him after a six-month round; King Ratnasinh was killed in this battle, including Lakshman Singh, along with many feudalists; his queen Padmini gave Pranahuati in the fire of Jawahar with many women; Thus, at the time of Chittor, the Muslims got rights for a short time. Most of all things have been created with imagination.

Ojha Ji highly quoted opinion is often accepted by all the historians. Dr. Lal also wrote in his book 'History of the Khaljis', that the naked truth after keeping the traditional narrative of the story is that Sultan Alauddin invaded Chittor in 1303 AD and after eight months of a fierce struggle, Authorized Veer Rajput warriors fought on the battlefield, and the Veer Rajput women became dead in the flames of Jawhar. The women who had died in Samadhi, there was probably a queen of Ratnasinh, whose name was Padmini. Apart from these facts, everything else is a literary structure and there is no historical support for it. Similar views are also of Dr. S.N. Nagori and Jitesh Nagori. This is considered to be the first Shakita of Chittor. It is said that Khilji fired his victory over the fort and killed 30,000 civilians there.

Many historians reject the name and existence of Padmini; But after sufficient consideration, many historians such as Dr.Burhipilalal Shrivastav and Dr. Gopinath Sharma have acknowledged the existence of Padmini as too many things in the story, even as Ojha Ji is expressed in the above-mentioned opinion. Dr. Gopinath Sharma has written that in our view it is believed that the story of Padmini starts with the Padmavat of the Khasi, it is utterly delusional. The Chittoor invasion of Padmini and Alauddin is described in the Chitriteet, which was written several years ago. Hemarttan blonde-cloud in the fourth; And in the Padmini character of Yudhodaya, this story has been freely written ... This story has come as a pure and healthy tradition in line with a Rajput system, it is not okay to reject it easily. It may be that many things have been prevalent in different forms with text distinction and description style, but their base cannot be found out of the truth. The architect is witness to the fact that there are palaces of Padmini in Chittoor and Padmini taal, which is still reminiscent of that elaborate and controversial woman. All the events given in relation to Padmini cannot possibly be corrected on the criterion of truth, but Padmini's existence is an independent significance of events, his sense of urgency, and leadership of Jawahar fasting through him.

In fact, the main cause of the attack and war of Alauddin Khilji was Alauddin's imperial ambition and military and trading utility of Chittor. The trading routes of Gujarat, Malwa, Madhya Pradesh, United Provinces, Sindh etc passed through Chittaur. It is natural that Sultan like Alauddin Khilji would definitely have the right to such an area. There is no doubt that Alauddin's main motive for Chittor attack was political, but when Padmini knew the beauty of Padmini, then the urge to take him would become more intense.

Thus, above all the above-mentioned explanation clearly shows that the name of Raja Ratnasinh's wife is Padmini or Padmavati or not, but that does not break the historical personality of the queen nor there is any reduction in her pride. Remembrance of the queen who laughs and laughs at the life of living with wholeheartedness and pride will always be worthy of inspiration and respect.
