Part Two of Actors Who Work Well Together including Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews

Updated on March 22, 2012

Part one of this series discussed actors who work or worked well together, as couples mainly, with a great on-screen chemistry. Well there are so many more actors that can be added to the category. They have acted in some great films and are just a joy to watch on the big screen, sometimes so much so that you get the DVD and watch them again and again. Films like The Sound of Music make you want to show them to your children as well.

Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer

When you see Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews on screen together, you find that they work together magically. They must get along, we think, and yes, they are great friends. According to brainyquote.com, Christopher Plummer once said, "Working with Julie Andrews is like getting hit over the head with a valentine."

-The Sound of Music

This is a lovable 1965 classic film that many generations of people have in their movie collections. You're sure to find yourself singing along too.

-On Golden Pond

Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer starred in this 2001 live television adaptation of a play by Ernest Thompson. The plot surrounds an aging couple, Ethyl (played by Julie Andrews) and Norman Thayer (played by Christopher Plummer) during a stay at their summer house on a pond. (There had also been a 1981 film adaptation of this play. That film starred Katherine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, and Jane Fonda.

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves

Here is another pair that has terrific on-screen chemistry and a huge fan base. Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves have done many, many interviews discussing how it is for them to work together (including a 2006 interview on The View, to discuss the Lake House). They are good friends and they are very fun and spirited to watch when being interviewed together.

-Speed

This is a 1994 action film about Jack (Keanu Reeves) and Annie (Sandra Bullock) who fall in love after experiencing the ordeal of trying to stop a bus explosion. It has the two part making of a good movie- good action and special effects as well as a heartwarming love story.

-The Lake House

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock won a Teen Choice Award for "best kiss" in this movie. This film is a daring and different one about a couple that falls in love while living in two different times. They reside at the same Lake House in 2004 and 2006 respectively. What begins as a new tenant forwarding mail to an old tenant escalates into the writing of love letters and placing them in the mail box which acts like a supernatural time portal. It's a while before the pair learns they are living in different times and then they go on a quest to physically meet some how, some way.

I love the song, Somewhere Only We Know, by Keane on the soundtrack to the Lake House. Hear more about it on my Best Movie Soundtracks Hub.

Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks

-Sleepless in Seattle

This film gives us the story of Annie (Meg Ryan) and Sam (Tom Hanks). Sam is a widower who has lost his wife to cancer and is looking to start dating again. His 8 year old son Jonah also wants to encourage him to find someone. Jonah phones in a radio station and Annie is one of the women who hears the story. She thinks Sam might be the guy for her.

-You've Got Mail

You've Got Mail had been a film much anticipated by fans, given Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan's successful on screen romance in Sleepless in Seattle. This 1998 film introduces us to Kathleen (Meg Ryan) and Joe (Tom Hanks). They build an online romantic relationship but do not know that in real life, they are work competitors. Joe is a proprietor of a large bookstore and Kathleen owns a small independent bookstore. She is slowly being run out of business by the competition from Joe. All the while, we want to see the happy ending that Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks have shown us so well in the movies.

I like the Actors you mentioned - I think Meg Ryan also suited working with Andy Garcia: When a man loves a woman. Then there's Will Smith and Matt Lawrence.

      Nice, unique Hub.
