Prince Musical Genius Found Dead

Prince Rogers Nelson was 57 years old and was known for his iconic hit, "Purple Rain." He was also known as "The Artist formerly known as Prince" was suffering with a bad case of flu according to his reps and had to cancel two of his shows in April as his private jet was forced to do an emergency landing so that he could be admitted to hospital. He was released from hospital last week and early this morning a call was made from his home where police and medical examiners were found at his Paisley Park estate home and recording studio.

The Carver County Sherrif in Minnesota confirmed that Prince was found dead early Thursday morning.

His last tweet to a fan was on the 15th April 2016, "I am still floating on a cloud of purple intoxication after last nights show in Atlanta."

Eighties Icon and Musical Genius Prince

Prince was an American singer and songwriter, actor and multi talented musician. He was renowned as an innovator in the music industry with his eclectic work and versatile range as well as his flamboyant and outrageous stage presence.

"The Artist formerly known as Prince" was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 7th 1958.

"For You" was his first successful album in 1978 and he was known for hits; "Purple Rain and I wanna be your Lover" as well as having sold 100 million records worldwide and making him one of the best selling artists of all time.

Prince won seven Grammy's, a Golden Globe and an Academy award and was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Rolling Stone listed him as 27 on the top 100 Greatest Artists of all time!

Personal Life of Prince

Prince was romantically linked to stars Kim Basinger, Madonna, Sheila E, Carmen Electra and Sherilyn Fenn.

He was engaged to Susan Melvoin in 1985 and in 1996 at the age of 37, married his 22 year old back up singer and dancer Mayte Garcia on Valentines Day. The couple had a son named Boy Gregory who passed away a week after his birth due to Pfeiffer syndrome.

The couple split in 1999 and in 2001 Prince married Manuela Testolini who filed for a divorce in 2006.

Prince became a Jehova's witness saying that it was not a conversion but a realisation. He attended meetings an occasionally knocked on peoples doors to let them know about the faith.

He was supposed to have a hip replacement surgery but would not go under the knife unless it was a bloodless surgery as the religion does not allow for blood transfusions.

He was a vegetarian and he wrote the song" nothing compares to you" for Sinead O Connor. Prince called her to his home and asked her not to speak with foul language during interviews which caused a feud between the two.

In 2016 his tour "Piano and Microphone" had two cancelled shows due to his long term flu and he also announced that he would be writing a memoir, " The Beautiful Ones."
