Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, will join Queen Elizabeth later this month on their first solo outing in seven years. It was in 2012 when the two women were together without anyone else in the royal family.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Cambridge and the 92-year-old Queen of England will be on an official assignment when they join the monarch at Kings College London on March 19, 2019. They are set to reopen the newly renovated Grade II listed Bush House. The facility was the former home of BBC World Service. Now the Bush House is being leased by Kings College where Queen Elizabeth is a patron.

The Queen and Prince Philip were there in 2012 to open Somerset House East Wing. Kate was there with Prince William in 2018 to see the work being done to support new mothers at the Maurice Wohl Clinical Neuroscience Institute.

Previous Solo Outings

It is not that the Queen and the Duchess have not been on some assignments together. The two of them haven't been on assignments just the two of them together.

Kate and Prince William got married on April 29, 2011. After they had been married only 11 months, Kate joined Queen Elizabeth on her first solo assignment. It was part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour of the United Kingdom.

When the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge go on their solo outing later this month, there is no doubt that they will take care of business and have a good time together. The two of them have always gotten along, and Queen Elizabeth thinks very highly of her grandson's wife.

It will probably be a treat for the two royal women to be out together again after such a long time. There will be lots of news about their time together, and fans of both women are looking forward to hearing how the outing goes.

Even though there is a very big age difference, Queen Elizabeth is known to be able to relate to people of all ages. No doubt they will have a great time together in addition to getting their work done.

No Reason Given

No reason was given why it has taken seven years for the Duchess of Cambridge and Queen Elizabeth to go on a solo outing. The two of them have been together on many outings over the years with other royals.

Duchess Kate and Prince William usually go on outings together. Occasionally, Kate will go on assignments alone.

We must remember that Kate has been on maternity leave three times. During all three of her pregnancies, she was sick with hyperemesis gravidarum that required her to cancel some official engagements.

She gave birth to Prince George on July 22, 2013. Then two years later, she gave birth to Princess Charlotte on May 2, 2015. Her last baby, Prince Louis was born three years later on April 23, 2018.

Assignments with Her In-Laws

Over the years Kate went along with Prince William and Prince Harry. After Prince Harry married Meghan Markle on May 19, 2018, the four of them have had joint assignments. That is about to change since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are scheduled to have a baby very soon.

Besides, the couples are about to have their own schedule of events to attend to now that Prince Harry and Meghan are moving out of Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

Over the last ten years, Prince William and Prince Harry had been on many assignments together. In later years, their wives joined them.

The Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex have different responsibilities now. When Prince Harry moves in a few weeks, the brothers will have separate courts, offices, and staff to help them with their businesses. Both families will continue to work with their Royal Foundation that supports charities that focus on issues that are dear to the heart of all four of them.

Are you looking forward to hearing about the Duchess of Cambridge and Queen Elizabeth's solo outing?
