Rage Against the Machine

Updated on March 11, 2013

Welcome to our Rage Against the Machine Lens

Welcome to my Rage Against the Machine lens. This is a lens dedicated to Rage Against the Machine and will be an on going work in progress, so be sure to stop back often. Be sure to participate in our polls, vote for your favorite Rage videos, and leave a comment. We want this to be an interactive experience. Now that the introductory stuff is out of the way, let me briefly explain how I came to be a Rage Against the Machine fan and why I started this lens.

When I first heard the song "Killing in the Name of" off of Rage's debut album I was instantly hooked. It wasn't one of those songs that you hear on the radio ten times and eventually decide you like. I was instantly blown away by that tune and it was a song that instantly spoke to me. I heard one song and I immediately ran out and bought that debut Rage Against the Machine CD. To my surprise my mind was further blown away when I listened to the entire the album.

I was expecting the standard rock album let down. We've all been there before, so you know what I'm talking about. You hear a slamming new track on the radio or via a friend and you run out and buy the album only to discover the song you heard is the only track worth listening to on the entire CD. This was never the case with Rage. Every song rocks just as hard, and carries just as powerful of a message as the first. There never was any sort of buyer's remorse with a Rage Against the Machine album.

I fell in love with Rage Against the Machine because their music was just what I had been waiting for in the 1990s. I had always loved rock and rap and Rage Against the Machine mashes the two genres up and blends them perfectly. There was just nothing like it at the time, and there has been nothing as original, raw, and creative since. Zack de la Rocha's amazingly intense vocals and one of a kind lyrical skills were what instantly sold me on rage. Tom Morello's insane guitar skills kept me listening long after I had every lyric memorized. The amazing bass and drum work of RATM somehow always came through just as well as everything else. Bottom line is there is little to NOT like about any of Rage Against the Machine's collection of work.

AIthough I discovered RATM as a teenager I could still relate to them and their messages. Now, nearly two decades later I am older, pi$$ed off about different things but still just as appreciative of Rage and their message. I am incredibly excited to see Rage Against the Machine back in the news and back on stage. With that in mind I decided to create a lens dedicated to RaGe AgAiNsT tHe MaChInE and can't wait to hear what all of their other fans have to contribute.

There is simply nothing else like it! Zack bouncing around and spitting venom and knowledge like the militant poet he is....Morello killing the guitar. Simply awesome!

Know your Enemy

"Yes I know my enemies. They're the teachers who taught me to fight me.

Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission

Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite . . .

All of which are American dreams."

One of my favourite bands. THey made political, socially conscience music with the groundbreaking musicality that made sure people sat up, stood up and listened to them.

@anonymous: Thanks for stopping by. Always glad to meet another rage fan.

Regarding the flicker module...not much I can do about some of the irrelevant results it returns. I put in specific keywords to return search results for it and NEVER seems to be able to limit itself to rage against the machine results. At least it gives me SOME good rage photos!

Of the RATM songs I've heard --can't say that I know their entire repertoire-- my favorite song is Renegades of Funk, which I like A LOT.
